Populist Sweden Democrats leader Jimmie Akesson declared victory for the four-party bloc. He said his party would be “a constructive and driving force” in the work of rebuilding safety in Sweden.
He said it was “time to put Sweden first.”
The bloc that includes the Sweden Democrats — the country’s second-largest party — won a thin majority in parliament. Though a few votes were outstanding they were not enough to sway the final outcome.
While Andersson is personally popular, anxiety in Sweden has grown over high crime rates in segregated districts that are home to large numbers of immigrants who have failed to integrate into Swedish society. Some blamed her Social Democrats, who have been in power for eight years.

Economist Peter Schiff did a podcast on this subject. Turns out, Swedes get FAR more tax bang for their buck than New Yorkers do. Swedes have no estate tax and a 22% corporate tax.
Freepers will find a way to scold this
But it’s really a big deal actually this in Sweden
Socialism doesn’t work on any scale.
They probably have less fraud.
Whereas our vibrant politicians see state resources as their own personal ATM.
Of course, corruption spreads in a political culture. The more people who engage in corruption, the more join in. People will obey laws as long as they see everyone else obeying. But once a critical mass of people ignore any law, you feel like a chump for obeying.
.
Depends on your goal.
If your goal is "economic efficiency," making the most widgets at the lowest cost, and you don't mind a "race to the bottom" as American workers are forced to compete with Third World slave wages, then yes, the free market is best.
But if you have other values -- promoting economically viable small towns, allowing middle class family formation, ensuring good-paying jobs for American high school graduates -- then you might be willing to sacrifice some "economic efficiency" by limiting a pure Darwinian free market.
Sorry my FRiend but socialism, often presented a ‘’sound in theory/bad in practice’’ is a sh**ty system no matter how you slice it.
Sweden is less socialist, in terms of tax burden and the role of government in citizens’ everyday lives, than several US states.
Sweden, Canada and other nations are pushing back against the Progressives. The Trump effect gone worldwide. Trump, like Rush, merely says what the rest of us think. We are not alone.
Actually most immigrants are ambitious and work harder or have above average skills or business acumen. That is the reason immigrants from south Asia have highest average incomes in US. Importing low skilled Muslims is bad because most are religious fanatics and do not assimilate well in any other culture.
I know Swedish people well. My first wife was born and raised in Sweden. Swedes are some of the nicest people I ever met. They accepted Muslims believing they will admire Swedish culture and assimilate. Muslims, especially those without professional education have not assimilated in any country due to intolerant nature of their religion.
It’s not a victory yet. The Sweden Democrats did not get a majority (they got 20%). They need to form a coalition with the other “right” parties, among which is the “Moderate” party (Sweden’s RINOs).
There will need to be a lot of negotiations.
First step would need to be to be able to talk about Muslim crime without being prosecuted for “hate speech”.
“But it’s really a big deal actually this in Sweden”
When Bannon covered this subject yesterday, he was gobsmacked realize Sweden easily could become a conservative country. It is a big deal.
Isn’t Scoldilocks from Sweden?
Swedes have been suckered.
Can Sweden become great again? Only if it becomes Swedish again.
Yeah, this is like deciding to buy a parachute after you've already jumped off a building.
That’s right :-)
And MAGA, too! :-) May the Biden (mal)administration come to a peaceful end.
That is true. Swedes are very honest and industrious people as a whole - there may be a handful who are not, but I’ve never met one :-)
AllI can say is to quote one of the greatest economists of the 20th century, Milton Friedman, who maintained that you can either have a welfare state and closed borders, or open borders and no welfare state.
But you cannot have both a welfare state AND open borders.
And this is the heart of the matter; nothing else.
They laughed at Trump too.
You almost have to laugh. People are so terrified that they flee their home countries to go to Sweden. But then, they go back to take a vacation in those horrible countries they fled.
Yes, they are economic migrants, bogus asylum seekers. We have oodles of them in Germany, too, and it seems that in the USA the situation is as bad - or nearly as bad in the very least :-(
Fellow Freeper jmacusa said these apt words in another discussion: “Where and when and by whom was it decided that we’re Motel 6 for the whole freakin’ world?”
That’s what many Swedes, Britons, Swiss, French, Italians, Germans etc. keep asking themselves as well.
Let’s face it, we’re all in this together, if you ask me.
