It actually is a lot of work to make the great big heaping bunch of doughnuts that you need for a bakery. But you are right, that is way to many employees.

I’ve noticed a number of female employers seem to have a lot of young female employees, even if they don’t seem to do much. Lesbians are probably more likely to do so.

Vegan would mean no milk and eggs, and chocolate would be tricky. The complications might put a real damper on return business. The hardcore ideological diners wouldn’t care; serious vegans will pretend they are happy on a pretty unpalatable diet. But the rest of us are likely to have higher aspirations when it comes to donuts.

The owners being lesbian isn’t relevant unless the owners chose to make it an issue in an obnoxious way.

I would not go near the place either. The “Queer” might be spread by the donuts.

Minimum is two at all times. One to do the baking and one be able to run the front counter. Front counter person must also act as a helper to the baker. If you do the seven days a week thing, six to six that is 84 hours a week when you need a counter person.

Of course as the baker you are probably putting in closer to 96 hours a week.

I am going to assume the ten employees is including the two owners and both were the bakers.

So eight counter people.

That would mean each employee was working around 11 hours a week unless they were doubling up. Which they would have had to have been doing.

Maybe a part time decorator to come in a couple times a week to do special cakes and such.

Granted, our local doughnut shop serves a relatively small town, but I’ve never seen more than 3 people working there. Once the doughnuts run out during the morning, the shop closes.
