Following the FBI’s raid of Trump, congressional Republicans are doing what they always do: issuing meaningless statements.
Following the egregious raid by the FBI on former President Donald Trump’s Florida estate earlier this week, congressional Republicans are responding to such Third World, political persecution in the same way they always do: by issuing meaningless statements.
Since the news of Attorney General Merrick Garland’s targeting of Trump broke Monday evening, GOP officials in Congress have released a range of public statements condemning the raid, while offering no real legislative solutions on how to address the blatant, left-wing abuse of power that has plagued America’s Justice Department (DOJ) for years. Take, for example, Wyoming Republican Sen. John Barrasso, who after waiting half a day to respond to the story, took to Twitter to issue the weakest remark imaginable.
“Raiding a former president’s home is unprecedented,” he wrote. “The Justice Department needs to quickly and transparently tell the American people who approved this raid and why it occurred.”
Despite his best attempts, Barrasso’s utterly useless tweet couldn’t match the cowardice displayed by fellow GOP Sen. Tim Scott, who during an interview on “CBS Mornings” gave credence to the FBI’s overtly political actions by encouraging Americans to let the situation “play out” before drawing any conclusions.
“There’s been lots of questions before this raid about whether or not the FBI is doing their job apolitical and we don’t know the answer to that question yet,” the South Carolina Republican said. “[The raid] is going to raise more questions, in my opinion. We need to let this play out and see exactly what happens.”

“Tim Scott is a real pantywaist. Very disappointing. “
Yup! True colors shining through.
Barrasso is my senator. Combine that with Cheney being my representative and I have almost no representation in the Congress. Barrasso is a milktoast whose rsponses to my few contacts have been pablum and so representative of the GOPe in Congress. He is part of the Republican leadership and has his nose so far up McConnell’s but that it is embarrasing for the state of Wyoming. Trump’s desire to not start a 3rd party and to work within and take over the Republican party I don’t think will succeed because of enshrined, spineless GOPes like Barrasso.
“what are they supposed to do exactly????”
See #20.
Only the UN is more useless than congressional republicans.
The GOP has no problem with the actions of the FBI et al because the target is their common enemy....Donald Trump!!!
Best set of comments so far today.
Well said....
Mr. Fleetwood obviously has NO idea what our current “Republicans” are.
They are as filthy, power-hungry, corrupt scum as the current Democrats are.
- only… they LIE to their own base/constituents, unlike the Dems…
Do NOT expect ANY “Republican” to do anything other than give “a statement” about this.
THEY want Trump gone too.
That is the bottom line! Bravo your recommended course of action at #20.
If Hannity, who I have not followed for a couple of decades, is correct about one thing it is that the agencies are largely filled with patriotic Americans who intend to earn a living and grow a family by serving their country.
Let me throw in that Trump was not only advised by his GOP betters to not fire Wray but along with the number of anti-Trump R's and RINO's his every move such as also firing Fauci, "the nation's leading expert" was subject to impeachment.
