Who needs to be the ruler of the Roman Empire when you get to shtoop Sophia Loren every day? Or at least, that was my thought when I first saw the movie.

I read that the movie references LBJ’s Great Society in a positive light and applied it to the Roman Empire. If you watch with that it mind, you will see it was true. Of course, the movie was released early in the Great Society before the negativity caused by the Vietnam War.

If we don’t pay attention, we’re going to go the way of Rome. And we don’t have time to mess around saving ourselves.

We have to be resolute and have hope. I really do have better resources to fight our way back than the Romans did.
