A Democratic bill allowing people to sue someone over an unintended pregnancy would hold 'deadbeat dads' to account, say conservative Christians

An Ohio Democrat has proposed legislation that would allow people to sue someone who impregnated them.

The bill has been proposed as Ohio bans abortion after six weeks of pregnancy in light of Roe v. Wade's repeal.

Aaron Baer, President of the Center for Christian Virtue, says it will tackle "hook-up culture" and hold "deadbeat dads" to account.

An Ohio Democrat has proposed legislation allowing pregnant people to sue the person who impregnated them, regardless of whether the sex in question was consensual or not.

Senator Tina Maharath has proposed the bill in light of the US Supreme Court repealing Roe v. Wade, which triggered a bill in Ohio that bans abortions after six weeks.

The bill would allow "any person may bring a civil action against another person who" either "causes the person to have an unintended pregnancy, regardless of the circumstances" or "aids or abets any other person in causing the person to have an unintended pregnancy, regardless of the circumstances."

What’s with this “pregnant people” nomenclature, which is creeping into descriptions of situations in which a “pregnant woman” is involved?

Does it really offend the sensibilities of anyone, to say “pregnant woman” if describing an individual who is pregnant?

To get abortion travel money.

Mom can already sue daddy for child support.

Including the woman’s husband?

Is it “unintended” just because she says so? If she swears she’s on birth control, and she’s not, and gets pregnant just to have a reason to sue?

That has been the law for centuries. If you get someone pregnant then you are responsible for the child’s support.

With the exception of rape or incest, this is nonsense. Just as I don't excuse men who get women pregnant, I won't excuse women who get pregnant. In both cases the parties chose to perform the act.

As I've often said here, if a man chooses to have sex, he must accept the consequences of his actions. Same goes for women.

Yes, because fake men can get knocked up by fake women, and, naturally, the pregnant person would need to kill the baby. God forgive me for having a momentary thought it might be better for the baby :( :(

"legislation that would allow people to sue someone who impregnated them"

Constitutional only if a man has the same, equal right, i.e. if a man can also sue a woman who got impregnated against his wishes.

So, they want to be able to sue one who makes them pregnant but refuse to allow someone to sue who gives them HIV???

I wonder if my wife whom I impregnated back in 65 when we were 15 years old can sue me under this bill ? And then I got a job and went to work while taking night courses to graduate and then went to tech school and college for higher degrees to support her and the baby as well as another one 5 years later that I never asked her about impregnating . And then working selflessly 70 hours each week to buy a farm and build several houses and barns and paying it all off before retiring in comfort ? Darn I’m in trouble ! I’ll bet when I sent her and the kids around the world every year while I stayed home to work the business and take care of the farm I should have asked permission for the “missed you babe “ sex we had whenever she came back . I’m in big trouble ! But I’ll bet she doesn’t sue me , heh .

There is nothing like “pregnant people/”. there are only pregnant women. This bill is DOA.
Conservative men should avoid sleeping with crazy far left ugly women and use condoms if they have sex with women they are not married to.

This headline is a joke: "..people to sue someone.."

This is better, no?:

A Bill by Democrats allowing women to sue 'deadbeat dads' over unintended pregnancies would hold them to account, say conservative Christians.

There, fixed it.
