I’m in the SF Bay Area so people are still masking and obsessing. My dental hygienist was fretting and going on and on about it today and I successfully changed the subject. Asians (in my family by marriage) are the worst Covidians I’ve noticed.

I observed "situational masking" over the past month. If I'm in a "normal" grocery store or department store, maybe a handful of people are masked. But, if I'm in Whole Foods or a high end department store, a good 10-20% of the people wear masks with no difference based on the race of the masked person.

I just took a trip to Martha's Vineyard and almost NOBODY was masked up there, though to be fair I was in the more commercial/less ritzy part of the island. In those travels through New England, there's more masking in MA and RI vs NH.

Yes, I live in a majority Asian (Chinese) high rise building near NYC and they haven’t taken off their masks since March 2020.

In Manhattan it seems like 1 out of 6 still wear masks outdoors although sometimes you can walk a few blocks and see no maskers. Indoors it’s about 50/50 depending on the venue. On the subway, where you are by law required to mask, about 20-25% do not mask.

After Asians, I would say the biggest maskers are black women, and old folks of all ethnicities. I’ve noticed that the white libs tend not to mask in restaurants or offices anymore, but those who do mask use the KN95. All of this was an improvement since March when it seemed like I was the only person walking around without a face diaper.
