A Georgetown University law professor says Americans are “slaves” to the U.S. Constitution as their adherence to that document — written by a “tiny group of white slave-owning men” — has turned the country into a “war zone.”
Rosa Brooks made the comparison yesterday on MSNBC’s Joy Reid show and highlighted the recent mass shooting in Highland Park, Illinois.
“[T]here are people all over the world who have lived during armed conflicts, and when does the mortar fall on your house, when does the soldier or the tank come down the street and just kill you,” Brooks said. “We are now living in that world, too, and we have brought it on ourselves.”
“That world” obviously would be due to the Second Amendment to the Constitution, and according to Brooks “we are essentially slaves to a document that was written more than 230 years ago.”
“And we cannot break out of the bondage that we have imposed on ourselves from feeling like we have to– everything by our Supreme Court is decided in reference to this ancient document which is just not serving us well,” Brooks continued. “It is causing enormous problems and enormous tragedies at this point.”
Did the law professor forget that the “ancient document” established a very clear procedure by which to “break out of [its] bondage”? It’s called Article V.

So much of the Constitution was formed in response to the abuses Americans suffered under a government that did as it pleased. The Constitution has spared us some, but not all, of those kinds of problems.

New, bombshell admissions over China’s influence in both the United States and Europe link organizations such as the Berggruen Institute with the Chinese Communist Party (CCP). The Berggruen Institute first rose to national attention after co-founding the “Transition Integrity Project” which advised on how Joe Biden could seize power on the back of an ostensible Trump victory.
She is a slave to her anger, and perhaps to jealousy.
On the other hand, unlike her, the US constitution can be relatively easily changed through the amendment process, as it has been 27 times in our history. All that she needs to do is find popular support for doing so. Obviously, there isn’t that support, so this angry beotch is all aggrieved about it.
Yup. The imagery that popped into my head were the communist infiltrators from decades ago trying to get the university students brainwashed into their beliefs.
If only we were.
We’ve got a good document. We can live free, responsible lives and our government is predictable. we do not want to change that under any circumstances.
Democrats/communist want to change that so that we look only to them (elites) for direction and answers.
We reject their idea of freedom and liberty.

I’ve come across some gen z leftists on the internet that consider a cry for freedom to be narcissistic and just plain selfish. And then a few days ago I was listening to the album, Chicago III, from 1971. Specifically, the song Free. And as the song was playing, I realized the divide between us boomers and the kids of today. We valued and fought for personal freedom - which is also the foundation upon which our constitution rests.
They must lose or we are in for a world of hurt.
