This is the Uvalde police SWAT team. This community of 13,000 people spends 40% of its municipal budget on the police.
My county Sheriff’s Dept spends over half of their budget on health care for inmates. Now the dem city administration wants to raise my property taxes to pay for new programs for the homeless they keep recruiting. Priorities.
Look at the money they are going to save. There is simply zero reason to keep them at this point.
This was their hour, and they failed.
Also, whither the Federal f*cking Marshals? What were THEY doing helping the local yokels keep parents from rescuing kids (after the local cops rescued THEIR kids of course - nobody restrained them)
There are many lessons to be learned already here:
1) LOCK the doors - single point of failure. WHO left the door open and why???????
2) SWAT unprepared to immediately respond.
3) No armed school resource officer
4) Why was this kid not Red flagged when he was arrested 4 years ago for saying he should shoot up a school during his senior year?
TX Rep Gonzales was on F&F about 1\2 an hour ago claiming the kid was one of the two who threatened to shoot up the school when they graduated. F&F was stunned by news but are reporting it for now.. About 5 minutes ago reporter on screen said he talked with Texas Ranger who has knowledge of case 4 years ago and said he is NOT one of the kids involved in prior threat.
These people weren't police, they were social workers. We don't allow police to be police any longer, we put them in jail for doing their job nowadays.
I try not to judge what someone does when they are being attacked. People react differently. But I am sure their training was structured to de-sensitize them to that shock.
I know my cop friends wear their body armor all the time. My friends who are plainclothes have their armor in close proximity.
Going into an active shooter situation without armor is just a waste of time.
Appears he was being chased by BP agents too. Never mind that he was firing his weapon in the open for 12 minutes on the way to the school.
Now there is missing 911 archives from the Uvalde police department. 18 minutes worth.
Starting to feel like an op, not an incident.
Yep, cool gear instead of training.
I think that the courts ruled that if a burg received a disproportionate amount of revenue from traffic ticket, that they were not truly an incorporated town and had to give up their town charter. Don’t remember where I read but it was maybe 10 years ago or more.
Lacking in Man power. Plenty of warm, cowardly bodies, though.
Yep. The SC has ruled several times that the police have no duty to protect you. You’re on your own.
Squad cars should be fully equipped for emergencies.
It’s almost as if they were ordered to stand down so the body count would be higher.
Now, if I were a person who distrusted the government and thought that they were trying to ban certain firearms, and that the bigger tragedy would be more likely to bring about more gun control, I might believe it.
And yet what happened was totally FUBAR!
Where are you seeing this missing 911 archive information?
Warren v DC
Reading the background, the original case, will turn your stomach.
Trying to find my article link I did see other articles pertaining to the “speed trap” laws that looked like they went back to the 1970s to try to stop some of these towns. Especially common in the south.
Back in the mid 80’s I got a ticket for doing 32 in a 30 in Chubby Checker’s home town! (S. Carolina iirc?) Out of state plates....
