Monkeypox: That unasked question

Scientists, it seems, are baffled by the unexplained appearance of the smallpox-like illness associated with rodents called "monkeypox" in the West which brings unsightly sores to the skin of those who are afflicted with it.

Long a disease seen mostly in parts of tropical Africa, it has now made appearances in the U.S. continental Europe, Canada, and the U.K., all at approximately the same time.

According to the Associated Press:

BLONDON (AP) — As more cases of monkeypox are detected in Europe and North America, some scientists who have monitored numerous outbreaks in Africa say they are baffled by the unusual disease's spread in the West.

Cases of the smallpox-related disease haven’t previously been seen among people with no links to central and West Africa. But in the past week, Britain, Spain, Portugal, Italy, U.S., Sweden and Canada all reported infections, mostly in young men who hadn’t previously traveled to Africa.

France, Germany, Belgium and Australia confirmed their first cases of monkeypox on Friday.

“I’m stunned by this. Every day I wake up and there are more countries infected,” said Oyewale Tomori, a virologist who formerly headed the Nigerian Academy of Science and who sits on several World Health Organization advisory boards.

“This is not the kind of spread we’ve seen in West Africa, so there may be something new happening in the West,” he said.

Viruses and bacterias, of course, can mutate, which could explain the sudden rate of the spread.

But the unasked question in all of the stories cited is how the disease got here to start with.

This article is so ignorant.

No females (outside Afica) have contracted monkeypox to date. So far, it appears to be circulating exclusively in gay “sexual networks”. The cases in Spain and Italy linked recent travel to the Canary Islands — superspreader event?

https://www.canarianweekly.com/posts/Nearly-300-000-people-attended-Pride-in-Maspalomas

https://www.reuters.com/business/healthcare-pharmaceuticals/italy-reports-first-case-monkeypox-infection-two-more-suspected-2022-05-19/

Now two probale cases identified on Gran Canary:

https://euroweeklynews.com/2022/05/19/canary-islands-report-first-detected-case-of-monkeypox-amidst-european-outbreak/

https://tenerifeweekly.com/2022/05/20/the-canary-islands-are-studying-a-second-case-of-suspected-monkeypox-in-tenerife/

Two more “superspreader events at adult sauna in Spain and fetish festival in Belgium:

https://www.telegraph.co.uk/news/2022/05/20/monkeypox-outbreak-doubles-health-authorities-set-announce-11/

So you have gay guys picking it up in Africa (at least one UK case) and bringing it back to their home countries or attending this gay pride event in the Canaries, fetish festival in Belgium, sauna orgy in Spain, and of course it spreads like wildfire among the highly promiscuous segment of the “gay community” attracted to sex tourism and to such events.

Given that straight young people these days more often engage in the same “risky practices” as gays, and that some of those who contracted the disease are bisexual, we may see female cases in time. Right now, it’s just a gay thing that has stayed within certain “sexual networks”.

Released just when Ukraine is winding down and covid is a bad cold.

The left creates a series of crises and obsesses over each one in turn. So, I’m not asking what monkey pox can do, I’m asking what fascist moves will the left make using the excuse of monkey pox?

Interesting article;

https://www.chemistryworld.com/news/rediscovered-native-american-remedy-kills-poxvirus/3003420.article

Sarracenia purpurea

"Herbal medicine used to treat smallpox in the 19th century found to halt viral replication in vitro

An old herbal remedy for treating smallpox that is thought to have been used by native Americans in the late 1800s has been rediscovered and found to kill the poxvirus. Smallpox has been eradicated, but the finding offers a possible treatment for poxvirus in the unlikely event of a bioterror attack or increased incidence of similar poxviruses such as monkey pox. .... Snip....

The team made extracts of S. purpurea and found that it was highly effective at inhibiting the replication of the virus in rabbit kidney cells. They then looked at the replication cycle of the virus and found that the herb inhibits mRNA synthesis, halting production of proteins vital for replication. ’Other drugs are being developed against smallpox, but S. purpurea is the only known therapy that will target the virus at this point in the replication cycle,’ says Langland.

’The extract blocks early transcription appearing to have a distinct mechanism of action from that of two other antivirals currently in clinical trials,’ says Mark Buller, a virologist at Saint Louis University, Missouri, US. ’The results are very compelling, and support the need to further evaluate the purified active ingredient in small animal studies.’

’With smallpox, it is obviously impossible to see if this herb is effective in the human body unless a bioterror release of the virus occurs,’ says Langland. ’We are in the process of doing animal studies to confirm our results in at least this type of whole animal system.’" Interesting article;

It didn’t have to be “realeased”. Just one guy who was infected in West Africa or who picked it up in say, one of the “sexual networks” of the guy who in the UK who brought if back from Nigeria (could be second or third- or fourth-hand), could spread it to dozens at an event like that. Then those guys go back to their home countries and attend an orgy at a sauna (Spain) or a similar event. It appears to be occurring in a highly promiscuous segment of the gay population who engage in unprotected and extremely risky sexual practices involving the exchange of bodily fluids, who are attracted to super spreader events of these types. No nefarious plots or grand conspiracies needed.

I'm sure it's just coincidental...

Woman who helped monkeys in Pennsylvania crash experiencing health issues: report

"Because the monkey did hiss at me and there were feces around, and I did have an open cut, they just want to be precautious," Fallon told the outlet, adding that she would be on preventative medicine for approximately two weeks and had just received her first dose of rabies vaccine and a round of anti-viral medication.

She sounds quite naive. People who handle wild animals like that would already been vaccinated against rabies.

Everything you say is true and perfectly reasonable.

One terribly significant problem is the fact they left their game plan laying on the table. And I read it. (you can too, if it’s still at the website!)

It is simply inconceivable to me that this is a naturally occurring event.

Same way Covid did, no doubt.

So they gamed an outbreak of a bioweapon developed from monkeypox. Why wouldn’t they? Monkeypox has been on the radar as an emergent disease the past ten years or so, since more cases started showing up in Africa as more and more people who never received the smallpox vaccine became infected and at older ages. Thinking was, that terrorists who had no access to smallpox virus might play around with monkeypox.

Around the same time, they gamed a bioterrorism attack using lab-created synthetic smallpox (a real worry now). They’ve gamed various hypothetical epidemics for years and years.

This outbreak has so far not extended beyond the aforementioned “sexual networks”. If it were some engineered “bioweapon” it sure is a dud. No one on the planes with these infected guys, no one who rode in the same taxi, shopped at the same store, etc. has come down with it as of yet. Only those with whom they they engaged in those highly risky acts.

Why can’t it be a natural event? It’s hardly the first outbreak outside Africa, just the first that got loose in an extremely promiscuous segment of the gay population:

https://freerepublic.com/focus/news/4064852/posts?page=63#63

HIV/AIDS started out in Africa with “bushmeat” at least a century ago, also one of the more common culprits in human cases of monkeypox in Africa. But once it found its way to gay men ....

The difference here, is monkeypox is a known disease, unlike HIV/AIDS back in the 1980s. Incubation period is only 5-14 days (can be as long as 21). It takes many months, sometimes years, before symptoms show up after HIV infection.

Monkeypox can be fairly quickly identified and dealt with. Although it will be challenge, as at least some of those who have monkeypox now probably can’t name all their sexual contacts, having done that thing they do with strangers.

The one person who has it was probably in Europe and brought it back with him, or her. So far he or she is the only one.
