Twitter Board Adopts a ‘Poison Pill’ Rather than Consider Musk’s Offer – Free Speech Be Damned
The Gateway Pundit ^ | April 15, 2022 | Joe Hoft

As was widely expected and reported in the aftermath of Elon Musk going hostile on Friday morning, on Saturday morning Twitter adopted a measure that will shield it from hostile acquisition bids in a desperate step to prevent billionaire Elon Musk’s offer to take the company private and make it a bastion of free speech.

The board set up a shareholder rights plan, also known as a “poison pill” which as we clarified yesterday for the benefit of the company’s overly dramatic, overly literal and overly snowflake employees, is not literal…

Liberals are in sheer panic over the thought of Musk taking over Twitter to the point that the Biden team is getting involved to stop him.

4D chess verses 2D chess.

For Musk, either way and even if Twitter does not give in nor change, it will be a win-win for him. He dumps his Twitter stocks, makes money, and Twitter stocks drop to sh*t rating.

I see peeps on TV asking if Musk knows what he is doing and I just chuckle to myself......

The SEC and a crop of hungry lawyers just might want to keel haul and gut a bunch if board members. They have a fiduciary responsibility to share holders.

As in that post, could Musk enlist others to acquire 5% chunks and then vote with him?

Screw the Shareholders, Screw Free Speech, Screw America, and Screw Freedom of Speech.

Musk was willing to overpay for stock by a considerable amount, which would have made a lot of shareholders money, and if he sells off all his stock, prices will plummet and they will lose money.

Someone like Musk must have already thought of this.

With those sums of money and at that level, they must have wargamed these scenarios.

Which brings to to the question: what’s his next move?

Why doesn’t Musk just build his own platform.

If he has the money to buy out Twitter, he certainly could afford to purchase what was needed to build his own.

If Musk walks, the stock will tank, worse than it already has, and investors will sue.

This is a win for our side, and Musk, however it plays out.

Always nice to see you.

“Why doesn’t Musk just build his own platform.”

He could do that but he can’t just spend money to make people use it.
There already are twitter competitors. But they have very little market share.

Why doesn't Musk just build his own platform.

Because it would take time to build the software, then he would need to build the market for his platform. People currently using Twitter most likely would not move in large enough quantity.

By buying Twitter, he will lose some current users, but then he doesn't have to compete with a long-established product offering. As a bonus, it would be an in-your-face to the Lefties.

The cherry on top: he could apply the same rules to all Twitter users, and not just the conservative ones. Imagine the result if ALL the haters were removed, especially those that the Left likes.

Why doesn’t Musk just build his own platform.

Because building out a new social media platform from the bare metal on up (and that's what it would take to give Musk the kind of autonomy from censorship that he wants) would take years and cost billions of dollars. Buying an existing social media platform with world-wide name recognition and a huge existing base is a lot easier.

He makes them tank the stock then he can buy it for next to nothing.
