Big difference when it’s American pilots going head-to-head with Russian pilots. Putin can get a hell of a lot more aircraft in theater than we could. Out pilots are better but quantity has a quality all its own. It’ll expand to strikes against airfields outside of Ukraine, etc.
I don't imagine a squadron of russian jets would stand much of a chance against a couple of F-22s. Heck, even a couple of F-35's might be able to do the job. (disclaimer: I am not advocating for any U.S. involvement in the war other than wishing the Ukes well, and humanitarian aid.)

You’re probably correct about that. But we don’t get to determine what the other actor gets to use. That’s always the Wild Card. They have their entire inventory of aircraft and weapons systems available for rapid deployment.
