Indeed kidney and spleen were my first possible guesses.
He also frequently has weird flank pain (either side). Just not the way this is. And it was often like muscle pain.

Best wishes and a prayer sent. Sounds like a kidney stone or urinary tract infection, but there are many causes for flank pain. Hope the people at the hospital use wisdom.

Thank you. That would be surprise to me. It’s left flank, just below ribs.
I had a PE (right lung - more common) and my dad had a terrible DVT that blew up his leg and hurt so terribly aching. This just doesn’t seem like those.

Me too. It’s in rural small-town area. Not the mecca of medicine as we live in down here.
I hate to say this but his mother died there. :-(
