Thank you, Wilhelm. I am sorry you had to endure something similar to this, but you are right about regret if I don’t summon the strength to face my father’s death. God Bless you.

Hopefully you will be able to find some comfort during this very difficult time.

I recently lost my mother and husband in quick succession so I understand your pain.

I got through it with the help of family, my pets, my friends, my garden and I kept moving.

I couldn’t have done it without prayer and God which helped me thorough the darkest hours.

My apologies if I don't respond to people's prayers and posts for awhile as I must now begin my journey to the hospital at which my father is a patient. Know that I cherish each and every one of you, and I will respond to you in due time.

The moment is drawing nigh, and I shall take the kind words and prayers you've offered me (and my family) to armor mysellf against the pain I know is awaiting me when I see him for the last time.

Again, I can't thank you all enough for the outpouring of sentiment. You embody the best traits of humanity --- all of you. -EA

Thank you, Bon of Babble. I am so sorry for your losses. I can’t imagine losing a wife and mother in quick succession if I were married, so I can sympathize with the pain. I am glad you were able to mitigate a bit of the pain by your relationship with God through prayer and the closeness of your remaining family and loved ones. God Bless you.

Walking out the door now...I will respond to those who post beyond this moment when I am able to do so.

God Bless!

I pray that Jesus gives you strength to spend the last moments with your Dad giving him all the love and support he needs to go gently to his Maker. Prayers for you to grieve and pray for healing and comfort. You’ll meet again in that better place.

Why do you fear it? You should be rejoicing that he will soon be in a better place. The cycle of life is not an easy one, but it is what it is for better or worse. None of us really understand it fully, but there was a purpose for each life that has walked upon this earth.

Just go in with your father and let him know how much you love him. That is the important thing. Don't show fear, as that will cause him to fear his final journey. I lost both of my parents suddenly (20 - mother) & (21 - father) years ago. Most everyone I know still has at least one parent left. Let's just say I was in my 40s when they passed.

Be happy for your father that he no longer will have to deal with his conditions. Make your last visit with him one that puts joy into his heart. In some ways you are lucky that you have the opportunity I did not with my father, to tell him how much I loved him. My mother died in recovery from a heart valve replacement. She decided at the last moment, figuratively, to call and inform me that she was having the procedure the next morning. Thankfully I did have the opportunity to tell her that I loved her . But it was a shock when my father called me and told me she had passed, because these procedures are so common, even back then. But in recovery she started bleeding and they were unable to stop the bleeding.

I chose not to mourn the passing or either parent, but instead to reflect upon all the good moments we shared as a family. Not all was perfect, but there was far more good than bad in my eyes. I rejoiced that both passed quickly and did not spend countless years suffering from one or more slow causes of deaths. For that I was grateful, and I thanked God for taking them both in what appeared to be peacefully in their sleep. I know they are now with the Lord, and that brings me comfort.

You can find the strength by setting aside your personal losses and turn to joy and happiness instead. That in turn will bring your dad to that same place. 🙂

Prayers for you and your dad. 🙂

“Thank you, Ink. I have, although I am not positive about my father. God Bless you.”
,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,
You must bring the Uncompromising Gospel to your dad.
This is not a time for subtlety or postponement, or hoping for his approval. You may be the ONLY ONE who can reach him.

I now pray that your dad’s heart be open, and that you do not falter in your duty.

Study the Scriptures prior to seeing him; The Word of God always strengthens us!

Prayers done for You and the Family.

Spend the time You can with Dad. You will figure out how to grieve in Your own way in time but You must be strong at this time. Remember the good times, You’ll probably remember some bad ones too.

I went what I will call numb when My Dad passed. I was on a flight to San Antonio at the time He passed, I felt it and knew when it happened just as we were landing at DFW. I called the Hospital as soon as I got off the plane and got confirmation of what I already knew in My Heart and Soul. My Sister was the last passenger to get on the connecting flight to S/A and I was already in “numb deal with it mode” as I broke the news to Her. Everyone else was in goofy/freak out mode while I remained numb and dealt with all the details that had to be done.

It was about a year and a half afterwards that it was My turn to grieve/lose it. Not a pretty sight. I went into solitary hibernation for a long time.

Your mileage may vary but hang in there.

"I always thought it would get easier as I aged
to deal with the loss of a parent."

.

It does - but AFTER the fact, not before.
It eventually becomes another part of you life.
A sad part, yes - but the pain is not nearly as sharp.

Looking back there are many sad things in life.
And without them, I doubt we would be able to appreciate
the good things nearly as much.

And, you're welcome.
