1. Biden knows Putin has checkmated NATO this time. The U.S cannot afford a major war in Europe at a time when China could pounce on Taiwan at any moment. Biden also understands NATO could come off second best in a war against Russia, given the fact that Russia was the first to mobilize and deploy. In other words, Moscow is 100% ready. NATO is not (Europe's de-facto leader, Germany, won't even agree to send weapons to Ukraine).
2. Biden has caved to Putin and wants his letter's contents kept secret because he would be humiliated internationally for caving in to Russia's demands if Russia published the letter for the world to see. If this wasn't the case, they'd simply publish the contents of the letter.
3. There is precedent for this. In 1962, to end the Cuban Missile Crisis, JFK secretly agreed to Russia's demands that U.S nukes be removed from Turkey and Italy. It was written in the formal agreement but not declassified until years later. The world only saw that Russia had removed its nukes from Cuba. The U.S side of the bargain was kept under tight wraps to avoid embarrassment

Maybe Biden will declare Seward's purchase of Alaska illegitimate and give it back to Russia, thus changing the Senate balance to 50-48 and shutting down oil production. Biden will want it kept secret until the 49-star flags are out and Senators Murkowski and Sullivan are arrested for insurrection.

If the claim is true, he has already been humiliated internationally. Every nation knows what is going on behind the scenes in diplomatic channels. In addition, most insiders in the mainstream press know. It is the American people, once again, who are kept in the dark.

That’s a very good question. Someone inside the administration saw an advantage to leaking it. The circle of trust can’t be that big on this matter.

It feels like the green light happened the moment Trump left, but how does it benefit the Biden family accounts. That’s the question. Unless, and this is just as likely, Putin just smells weakness and is using it.
Biden asked — but I doubt Putin would agree. He wants everything in the open.

This is an existential matter to Russia. No way Putin is going to be railroaded into keeping such a profound agreement private.
And why should he? If its private it will just be secretly violated — and Putin knows that.

Germany isn't being "abandoned", they're busy doing a deal in Moscow, as well they should be.
