Biden will make it to January 20, 2025 even if they have to use a body double.

When a VP is appointed due to a vacancy, the new VP must be confirmed by both Houses of Congress.
I can easily envision a scenario, with the GOP in control of one house, where such a vacancy is never filled. It’s happened before in U.S. history — I think most recently in the LBJ administration.
