What I think we have learned is that “Biden knew.” Either that or the intelligence agencies are briefing somebody else on such important matters. Then there is the very scary possibility that Biden was briefed but honestly does not remember. Perhaps both options.

Kabul airport isn’t secure. The Taliban has everything from mortars to old Soviet howitzers. They could shell it and make it impossible to land or take off. We could suppress them with air strikes, but they’d be back as soon as the planes were gone.
3. That intelligence agencies were increasingly pessimistic about the Afghan government staying in power. That the Taliban were quite capable of taking over the country.
There is an Afghan government? Didn’t their president flee with all the money he carry in his helicopter?
When Biden claims to have gotten 45,000 out of Afghanistan, he’s counting earlier military withdrawals.
