Just to be clear, if they invoke the 25th Amendment, then Biden would still be president but would not be constitutionally allowed to fulfill his duties, and Harris would remain Vice Presdent and assume the duties of the president only as Acting President. Biden could at any time reclaim his rights as president by transmitting a letter to the Congressional leadership stating that he is, in fact, able to fulfill his duties. Thus, there would be no vacancy to fill.
The only way there would be a vacancy is if Biden resigns or dies.

A large segment was probably voting for Kamala so that she will make history as the first female Vice President and eventually President. They don’t care for what Kamala stands for or if she can do the job.
