No surprise
Et tu, Amy Grant? Very sad, but the writing has been on the wall for a long time.
Peter denied Christ 3 times. Lucky you weren’t around then to judge him.
And I wasn’t aware that Peter had turned the keys over to anyone else…
So, none of it really matters?
So, Christ died for nothing.
Leviticus 18:22 says it all
My grandad has two Christmas albums of hers. I’m shocked.
We are in the time of the falling away.
Romans 1:18-32 is going on in people’s lives all around us.
Compromise with the heathen, going along to get along, is a very real and very dangerous on-ramp to the broad way that leads to destruction.
Clinging to the Lord means being hated by the culture and ultimately they will start killing folks who do cling to the Lord and who do not follow them into rebellion heaped on rebellion.
But what Scripture says is when you see these things look up for salvation is drawing close!
She sings like a smoky lounge singer in my opinion. Doesn’t comport well with Christian Christmas songs.
WOW!!!! I grew up listening to this lady back in the 80s
“ Love the sinner. Hate the sin”. I do not believe Grant was promoting homosexuality.
Jesus said, “A new command I give you: Love one another. As I have loved you, so you must love one another.”
We at least need to live by the Golden Rule.
What does the “Golden Rule” compel us to do in this instance? applaud Amy?
Read the parable of the Prodigal son. In the end, the Father runs to meet the lost son who has come back. Your first remarks here were condemnation instead of seeking prayer for her. You and those like you are the reason people are leaving the organized religion you follow in droves. You have nothing to offer but judgment and scorn. I’ll pray for you, you should try doing the same for this young lady
Peter denied Christ 3 times. Lucky you weren’t around then to judge him.
*************
Peter denied Christ because he was afraid during the crucifixion, not because he wanted to go gay.
You misread the Prodigal Son parable, like a lot of well-meaning but immature Christians as well as a lot of pagans. Do you not realize that the prodigal had already TURNED (repented) and made the trip nearly all the way home before the Father responded?
There is no love by saying “It’s OK for you to go to Hell”.
Who is Amy Grant? I’ve never heard of her.
10-1 she’s got a gay child. Seems many parents reckon with negotiating their faith or losing their children.
When any Christian becomes apostate and denies Christ, it is sad to me. “What does it profit a man, to gain the whole world, and lose his own soul?”
I saw this with her way back in late ‘70’s, early 80’s. I was all into Contemporary Christian Music, worked festivals and put on concerts. I saw Amy rise, and, it just seemed odd - something about her singing and message that just seemed manufactured. Sadly, that’s the way I saw a lot of the ‘industry’ of CCM go. I was on stage one thunder and rain evening at Creation 80 and the power went out, Amy had been singing, Brown Bannister, her producer was playing piano. Brown did the right thing and led all of us in worship songs. A beautiful rendition of “Hallelujah” (not Handel’s) was powerful and you could feel the Holy Spirit in the place. As everyone was finishing moments of quiet, she walked to back of stage and gave me a hug. I was a nobody. But I felt a moment of sincerity - and she had a choice.
A few years later, her popularity rising, married to Gary Chapman - he produced a bunch of her songs/albums (I think). I remember then there was something strange all around her and Vince Gill - then her and Gary got divorced. She had bitten of the poison apple of the world. An article in McCall’s magazine, her describing such a free feeling to be running down the beach topless with her friend, using F-bombs. My heart ached to read this.
I lost track of all her career ins and outs. All I know is that it seemed she had one foot in both worlds. The Christian one because it was convenient. I would just pray, pray that someday God would get through to her and show her He really is real, really does love her, and all her pretty songs and pretty smile and pretty face matters nothing to Him or how she’ll spend eternity.
She had a choice.
