“They hurt us until we agreed with their point of view.”

We had this training exercise known as The Unsolvable Problem.

No matter what you tried, you were going to lose.

The purpose of the exercise was to see how you stood up against losing.

Did you quit?

Did you sit down and wait for the exercise to get over?

It was an exercise where weak leaders were chosen to be in charge.

It was used to weed out the weak.

They must not be using this exercise any more.

I knew we were in trouble when the memo came out saying it wasn’t fair to evaluate Officers by their performance in combat.
