Official social media pages for various arms of the United States military showed their support this week for Pride Month, an annual tribute to the LGBTQ community.

Marine Corps Recruiting posted on Facebook on Friday, writing, “We celebrate the opportunity to serve together — as a warriorhood strengthened, not divided, by our differences.”

“Tearing down barrier after barrier, overcoming obstacle after obstacle, winning battle after battle for our Nation and everyone in it. That’s what makes a Marine,” the post stated. It also included the phrase “STRENGTH & PRIDE IN BELONGING,” with the “& PRIDE” portion in rainbow colors.

The U.S. Navy posted a photo of a rainbow with an aircraft carrier and helicopter in the foreground. The photo’s caption read, “June is #PrideMonth2021! Help the #USNavy celebrate by posting your favorite picture of a rainbow at sea in the comments below.”

This is it at all what makes a marine. A marine’s commitment is for life. Being a Marine is more than just bearing the title of a United States Marine. It is not a concept or state of mind. It is a permanent transformation of the person who was previously known only by their given name. It has nothing to do with their sexual persuasion. It has to do with being able to walk into the most toxic of situations with the intent to overcome the odds no matter how great they are.

I keep this on my memory and read it at times as I lived under this code for about half my life. I was not a marine but another branch but I followed the same code and was proud to have served with them. And no where does it mention my sexual orientation.

CODE OF CONDUCT FOR THE U. S. FIGHTING MAN

1. I am an American fighting man. I serve in the forces which guard my country and our way of life. I am prepared to give my life in their defense.

2. I will never surrender of my own free will. If in command, I will never surrender my men while they still have the means to resist.

Makes it hard to trust someone that decides to change our society this way as it promotes fear that the person won’t perform due to other considerations that meant enough to force them on the cadre of any branch of the fighting forces for personal preferences.

Exactly. I was explaining to my wife this very fact just today. We are use to reading about coups in history books with dates attached, etc and you have a retrospective view of it, all nice and tidy. However, we are living the chapter of this American coup out in real time so it’s harder to understand fully what’s happening.
