Monsanto had a revolving door relationship with the FDA. People from Monsanto ended for the FDA and visa versa. I wouldn't be too quick to trust the FDA or any alphabet fedgov agency.

I wouldn’t trust the FDA anymore than the CIA/FBI or all the other alphabet agencies.
