Now Congress Comes After Firearms Manufacturers

President Joe Biden has frequently made clear his intent to repeal the Protection of Lawful Commerce in Arms Act (PLCAA), and now it seems some members of Congress are looking to follow suit.

Rep. Adam Schiff (D-Calif.) reintroduced H.B. 2814, a bill designed to achieve Biden’s goal of eliminating the PLCAA. The last version of the bill was titled the “Equal Access to Justice for Victims of Gun Violence Act.”

Speaking in 2019 about the bill’s previous iteration, Schiff said, “The gun industry should not enjoy special privileges and protections. … This bill would pierce the gun industry’s liability shield by putting an end to the special protections the gun industry receives.” He added that his goal was to “correct the error Congress made” by passing the PLCAA in 2005.

This is a blatantly dishonest attack on firearms manufacturers, one that echoes Biden’s repeated calls for repealing the PLCAA.

Long has the president made it known that he intends to take away manufacturers’ “liability shields,” as his press secretary also misleadingly labeled the PLCAA. In a recent press conference, Biden said that if he could ask God for one thing, it would be this.

From the article:

...the PLCAA does not, in fact, afford the firearms industry any special protections. According to the law, gun makers and dealers simply cannot be held liable for the criminal misuse of their products
This legislation is an attempt to bankrupt gun manufacturers with endless lawsuits.

This is the long term plan to end the 2nd Amendment.
No need to repeal it when no one can buy a gun.

Okay, so if Democrats push this through, gun prices go up as gun manufacturers stop making and selling guns. That’s a big plus for some of us that have existing guns we are selling. Further, the backlash against Democrats will mean they get booted in 2022 and likely 2024 whereupon their Republican replacements will rescind the Democrats overreach and gun manufacturers and resume making and selling guns to civilians. A bit of a repeat with the “assault weapons” ban, life goes on as Democrat moves will lead to their downfall.

Fire arm manufactures, get your butts to a red sanctuary state...pronto!

Missouri would be a good choice. We already have ammo manufactures in state.

Easy solution is for gun manufacturers to refuse to sell guns to any government agency. They should have done this a long time ago. Once the message is received and these legislative threats are stopped then gun makers should still refuse to sell to any agency. What they do instead is lease the guns only, along with service contracts that would provide lucrative income streams.

Precedent then would be that anyone who manufactures anything could be sued for criminal misuse of their product. This buck and case knives used in assaults, auto manufacturers for drunk driving crashes, coke for causing obesity, etc. Pick something, anything and it will be twisted into a money making lawsuit.

Were the products defective?
Did the companies lie about how to use them?

So, go ahead and try it, Democrats.

Long past time to get this done and over with.

The states have signaled their intent over the last few years. Many of them will advise the feds to put this bill in an uncomfortable place.

Be careful with the above assumption. There’s plenty of RINO’s that are anti-gun. And, even if the GOP retakes both houses may not support rescinding Democrat anti-gun laws. They will come up with some lame excuse....

So, are we to hold auto manufacturers responsible for drunk drivers?

Do we hold shoe manufacturers responsible for muggers who escape fleet of foot?

Do we hold clothing manufacturers responsible for robbers wearing their ski masks?

What about the bus/taxi/uber that brought the criminal to the area? Or the fast food place where he/she ate lunch prior to their crime? All helped "enable" the crime to take place.

Instead of blaming one particular component or manufacturer in the long chain of events and actions that brings criminal and victim together, perhaps we should simply hold the criminal responsible for their actions.

Randy Barrett told the entire state of California to kiss his rosy red backside a few years ago. More manufacturers should have done the same.
