The number of vessels stuck in a traffic jam outside the Suez Canal rose to 200 Friday as recent efforts to free a cargo ship wedged between the Canal’s two banks failed.
Dislodging the stuck ship, the Ever Given, could take up to a week, and the vessel can encounter structural issues while it remains stuck, a salvage expert told the Associated Press (AP).
The Suez Canal handles approximately 12% of international trade. Its recent blockage threatens to harm the world economy and poses a disruption to global supply chains, CNBC reported....
The ensuing traffic jams forced several cargo ships to consider taking a circuitous alternative route around Africa’s Cape of Good Hope....

Yep, unfortunately you are correct!
Yeah I thought so....
Off-load onto smaller container ships until it floats.
My nephew is at sea a lot, sometimes off the east coast of Africa. They carry armed security teams in order to deal with pirates.
Whatever they say is BS!!
ALL the crew, etc. should ALL have weapons!!
Who was the untouchable pilot during all of this I hate fcuking pilot companies
Worlds worst least accountable extortion racket
Did I mention how much I loathe them
They ran my ship into a chemical carrier on the calcaseiu river in lake Charles Spite my captain advising the pilot to give away and they took no responsibility for 48,000 in damages they are scum
just unload the cargo to other ships.. it will float higher in the water and be free.
And stream the opening up of the offloaded containers.

Sounds like an interesting job. Do they take grumpy old men?
Sign me up. I need a cruse.
SS1
And let out all the illegals and weapons?
But what if you don’t want people to see what that cargo consists of?
...and that ship was likely Captained by a south Floridian.
I bet eventually they will have to pain stakingly have to start offloading cargo into other ships to be able to deal with it. What a mess.
As such, governments should consider absolving crews of liability for killing pirates in action. I believe right now, due to insurance liability issues, crews aren’t supposed to carry guns to defend themselves against marauders. They’re just supposed to do as they’re told by their captors.

That’s a crazy policy. These ships can be upwards of 1,000 feet long, the size of a large building, and they don’t want the crews armed?
All right...
No more sugar-coating it...
How do you really feel about those ship pilots?
😀
The wind absolutely did this. In my opinion, these ships are too big for the infrastructure. That includes ports & rail lines.
The sail area (the profile upon which the wind acts) on that ship is incredible.
They have put all their eggs in a basket that doesn’t fit out of the hen house.
Would seem you could hook a ship of about the same size onto it and drag it back into the channel...
