Just piggybacking onto the discussion here:

Here’s my plight. I’m scheduled to receive the Pfizer vaccine this Sunday. Everything in me is saying, “Don’t do it!” I’ve had Covid—back over the holidays—haven’t recovered all my strength yet (lots of fatigue). I’m 63, my wife, who is a highly skilled nurse (has worked in Covid units since last March) is encouraging me to take it. I will be seeing my Christian doctor this afternoon (he has already received his dose of the vaccine). Conscience is telling me No! I see more politics than medicine in all things Covid, but people I trust and love who have medical expertise are telling me otherwise. How to proceed?

Follow your own conscience.

Nobody, not even your wife or doctor, let alone the government "experts", should force you to do something that your inner self is saying no to. Your old enough and experienced enough to assess your own risk.

It's easy to give advice but it's hard to resist it if you are of a different mind.

My doctor says get the vaccine. My wife is trying to decide for herself but would never pressure me to do anything I didn't want to. She's a retired nurse practitioner.

I'm 73 and prone to chronic upper respiratory breathing problems. I may have already had the covid a year ago Christmas right before the virus hit the news. Had the same symptoms. Thought I had pneumonia but the doctors in the hospital weren't certain. It was viral but they hadn't seen it before. In hindsight, I may have had the covid and didn't know it yet. Recovered at home on my own in about a month but the fatigue has lingered too. But them I'm getting older. Hard to separate getting old with having ailments sometimes.

I'm no getting the vaccine. I'll stand on the sidelines for now and wait and see. Too many variables and unseen long-term side effects yet for me to feel comfortable in taking a shot that was rushed to market by the government, no less.

Good luck but don't apologize for doing what you think is right for you.

I probably had COVID-19. I am reluctant to take any of the vaccines - they *are* experiments.

I began to research the bug and found the following. Some of which, are instructive videos by Mobeen Syed, MD.

He does a good job of explaining the various mechanisms of the bug, the cells, treatments, and vaccines.

In short, last I checked (early Feb. 2021) - his view is, that if you have had COVID-19, you do NOT need a vaccine. But he does not forcefully discourage your taking the vaccine.

You might visit at least one of his videos at YouTube, and get the gist of that presentation.

Following, are a snapshot of my notes:

- - - - - - -

Famotidine

Mechanism of action of Famotidine - instructive video by Mobeen Syed, MD:

Hydroxychloroquine

Mechanism of Action of HCQ - instructive video by Mobeen Syed, MD:

Ivermectin

Monulparivir

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Tdz0bwNQezQ

Molnupiravir is an experimental antiviral drug which is orally active and was developed for the treatment of influenza. It is a prodrug of the synthetic nucleoside derivative N4-hydroxycytidine, and exerts its antiviral action through introduction of copying errors during viral RNA replication. Activity has also been demonstrated against coronaviruses including SARS, MERS and SARS-CoV-2.

Monoclonal antibodies

US approves Regeneron antibody treatment given to Trump

What is the antibody cocktail Trump received? (< - that is a sub-header/sub-title in the article:)
https://www.sciencemag.org/news/2020/10/heres-what-known-about-president-donald-trump-s-covid-19-treatment

A portion of that article:

[”The antibody cocktail”] is a combination of two antibodies directed against a key protein of the virus that causes COVID-19, SARS-CoV-2. They bind to a region on the main surface spike protein that helps the virus attach to a receptor on human cells called angiotensin-converting enzyme. The targeted region is dubbed the receptor binding domain.

Hydroxychloroquine is not a cure, nor a medication that halts COVID-19, nor *literally* “prevents death.”

BUT . . .

Hydroxychloroquine DOES significantly frustrate SARS-2-CoV reproduction.

Mobeen Syed, MD’s mechanism explanations, will illustrate, for example, how Hydroxychloroquine thwarts the ability of SARS-2-CoV to connect with the ACE2 receptor of a human cell.

In addition, Hydroxychloroquine frustrates the ability of SARS-2-CoV to use the mRNA within that cell, for purposes of reproducing SARS-2-CoV.

- - - - - - - - - -

Famotidine, like Hydroxychloroquine, thwarts the ability of SARS-2-CoV to connect with the ACE2 receptor of a human cell. But that is the extent of Famotidine’s fight.

Here’s a way to get your very own covid med from a doctor.

Just got mine. The HCQ pills are sitting on my shelf in case I get sick.

I’m late to this thread so may have been answered..but maybe get antibodies tested before a vaccine? My MIL (75) had covid in December and has antibodies (just got them checked again...antibodies still present), so she is holding off in vaccine for now.

Just by way of update...After reading through the thread, looking at some of the links some of you have shared, consulting with my doctor and wife (a nurse), and lots of prayer, I decided to forego my appointment yesterday to receive the Pfizer vaccine. I have felt/continue to feel not too great since my bout with Covid in late December. I’ve had a hard time regaining full strength (or even the strength to go out for a walk to begin the process of returning to normalcy). I’ve noticed my breathing is more labored during the mild exertion of going up a flight of stairs (I’m 63 for goodness sake). All that said, I just didn’t feel comfortable with all the hyper-focus (coming from the government and media) to “get the vaccine so we can ALL get back to normal.”

Just couldn’t pull the trigger. Something just didn’t feel right...
