Matt sees the hand writing on the wall with the GOPe. I hope DJT accepts his offer.

He can act as lawyer and then hopefully run in the special election to reclaim his seat.

The GOPe senators have said he CANNOT represent Trump as a sitting Congressman.Yet sitting congress critters can be on the prosecution team? They make these rules up as they go.

He says he’s never lost a trial case, and he won’t start in the Senate. The Senate will not allow Gaetz (nor Trump) to take over the Senate floor and try to tell them things they don’t want to hear. They would be immediately gaveled down and removed.
Whatever the Senate impeachment trial turns into, it will not feature a serious discussion of 2020 election fraud.

“He can resign then run again and win his seat.”
In 1983, then Dem Rep Phil Gramm resigned his seat in Congress because he was switching parties and becoming a Republican. He wanted voters to decide whether they wanted him as a republican. A special election was held and he won convincingly.
I’d hope Gaetz would be able to do the same - resign, defend Trump in the trial and then run in a special election for his seat.

It is sad how many question courage. America is being flushed down the fascist drain, a man stands against the evil, and he is questioned as if he is foolish. That is disgusting and all to telling of the give-up mindset the media manipulations have accomplished.

It's a matter of "solemn respect for the integrity of Federal institutions" not the Constitution (Although you can make an argument).
House members for the prosecution are representing the entire chamber regardless if there were votes against impeachment. An standing House member acting as part of the defense council would make the HOR look divided as well as making the whole impeachment process a farce.
Yes I know, how could an already farce turn into another one? Well, I am just going by what these creatures that we elect actually believe and project.

I was listening, not taking notes, I only paraphrased after Gaetz was done at 10:30.
My memory is that it was the Senate ethics panel, something like that, but instead of challenging this, Gaetz just said, “Fine, then I’ll resign, because this is more important than my seat in Congress.”

"How red is his seat? How likely is someone else on the republican side to win it?" Florida panhandle district would be considered safe for R's even in the new age of engineered elections.

The institutions are not broken the people in the institutions do not know how to operate the institutions as designed. Just beacuse a newbie driver runs into a tree with his bright new Corvette, doesn’t mean that the Corvette was broken before he hit the tree...just sayin’.

Maybe he needs some coin.

That’s a terrible idea, we need him in Congress, the Senate Kangaroo Court will never let them present the evidence of fraud.

Agreed. I predict there will be 100% agreement on rules of evidence. There may or may not be debate on the subject, but the decision is already made.
