The first rifle on my list is the venerable Ruger 10/22. Designed to mimic the size and weight of the historic M1 Carbine, this compact weapon has made a name for itself as one of the most accurate, reliable, and affordable .22s on the market.
It works great for small game hunting or propped by the back door for varmints, and with a 10-round magazine, it can handle self-defense in a pinch. There is also an endless list of aftermarket accessories available, so you can customize your rifle with ease.

The concept of a carbine makes a lot of sense. Short barreled rifle that uses the same ammo as your handgun.
Just need a few more shotgun or snake rounds.
SKS’s are ok, but too slow to load. I can reload in AK in about 1 second and 30 rounds ready to rock vs.10 individually loaded rounds. SKS duck bill mags don’t work.
Don’t much care for pump when I got semi auto with an adjustable gas system
Do you eat the coyote?
But far more expensive than .22lr
Taurus Judge
5 rounds
Smith & Wesson Governor
6 rounds
Both guns
Revolvers
Can shoot .45 long Colt, .410 shotgun rounds, devastating PDX rounds.
Home defense rifled barrel handheld shotguns.
They will confiscate all the guns they can find.
Time for a dispersal strategy or build guns with 3d printer plastic.
The spread from heating up isn’t the issue. The issue is they cannot hang in any kind of hard training. Cracked bolt faces, cracked receivers, one old man’s headspace walked out of spec and his bolt couldn’t close all the way, it’s their metallurgy. They’re poor quality and it’s marketed as having “a Garand action.”
I’ve been to 17 classes of various round counts and they always suffer some form of catastrophic failure, most of which are dangerous to the shooter. People who bring things like minis are why we have loaner rifles.
My experience with them ranges from 2010 to present, with around 20 rifles. They just have problems but Ruger is a budget company.
I saw only one not die horribly in class but it started double feeding and stove piping after every shot by lunch of day 2. It was around 1,100 rounds into a 1,700+/- round class
In today’s age, seeing a silent laser beam sight is more of a deterrent than shotgun racking.
I think you are on the right approach, especially with the concept of 80% lowers, burying the dead, keeping your mouth shut,
and a laser.
If you can
I am so jealous.
When my father died, I got a wafflemaker.
Jeff Cooper once said, “no-one wants to get shot, even with a .22.”
What you’re talking about is a Taurus Judge or Smith & Wesson Governor. All kinda deadly rounds go through that short rifled barrel.
Now yer talkin’
Almost ALL firefights end when the first person gets shot.
The vast majority of firefights occur within 7 yards.
Hence, a multi round small caliber gun with a $5 laser sight would be the best option.
I didn’t imply any such thing about 5.56 projectiles.
Limiting the options such as having to look through the dot sight is inferior to having a laser dot pointed at the bad guy.
I would, but the OP didn't see fit to post it to this site and I'm not about to put money into a lame-o blogger's pocket by clicking over to their lame-o blogger site.
If the article were worth its salt, it wouldn't be on a lame-o blogger site. It would be here.
Here, here. Picked up the special edition in camo patriot recently. Love it.
“I didn’t imply any such thing about 5.56 projectiles.”
The explain why you corrected the Sgt when he mentioned the danger them going through walls!
