Two thousand National Guard troops in Washington, D.C. to protect the Biden inauguration this week have been sworn in as Special Deputy U.S. Marshals. The move comes after reports that Guard members were being vetted over fears of an “insider attack” by troops on the inauguration....The caption for the Flickr album reads, “WASHINGTON, Jan. 17, 2021 — Chief Deputy U.S. Marshal Lamont Ruffin from U. S. District of Columbia District Court swears in 2,000 National Guard troops as Special Deputy U.S. Marshals prior to the upcoming presidential inauguration. Deputation gives the guardsmen temporary, limited, law enforcement authority pertaining specifically to the safety and protection of the inauguration and related events.“....

under the bridge may not be able to now say they were at the Biden Inauguration.

I agree with your sentiment. This build-up is far too big, too early, and too well organized as just a ‘better safe than sorry’ security operation for the inauguration.

She is not, her unit is. She was allowed to skip this and continue with her Grad. School classes which resume tomorrow. She shares limited information with me but she did confirm last week that they would be armed. The first reports had stated unarmed National Guard.
I think it was to avoid violation of the posse comitatus act.
I still think this is a tin foil hat conspiracy. Like the “Assassination Squads going after Pelosi” are all things that are being broadcasted to make us live in fear. I think it’s all BS

Chatter is that the pols are concerned about possible mutiny.
They sure seem to be loading up for that... but...
Thing is, if the military was really gonna get it on with a coup and all that, the only thing the NG troops would do is be a source of casualties. The army could simply MLRS, Howitzer, or HIMAARS the area from 25 miles away until you get hamburger and rubble... the Air Force would not even work up a sweat clearing the place of anything living... and the Navy would have their choice of air, artillery, and even a few Marines if you wanted to be thorough after you pasted DC with a few thousand tons of munitions.
If the powers that be are thinking that the 25,000 NG troops would protect them in the event of a military mutiny, than it is as human shields — IOW, “those brutes may want to string us up, but the won’t kill 25,000 of their fellow brutes to do it...”

Wow. I believe you may be onto something. A dry run for “government” gun confiscation. Hmmmmm. The politicians can send soldiers to do the job they themselves don’t have the balls to do.
