Liz Cheney and Kevin McCarthy are making two very different bets on Donald Trump — and the one who guesses right may find themselves with a future leading the GOP.
The decision by Cheney, the No. 3 House Republican, to split with the minority leader and embrace Trump’s impeachment marks the most dramatic rift in the upper rungs of GOP leadership since Trump took office. It caps a years-long tussle between the party leaders over how closely the GOP should align itself with Trump and where the party should go after he leaves office.

If Cheney, somehow “wins” - it doesn’t matter, because there will literally be nothing for her to rule over. Republicans will cease to be a party
What nonsense.
McCarthy also turned against Trump, i.e. The American people.
Trump ain’t leaving

“If Cheney, somehow “wins” - it doesn’t matter, because there will literally be nothing for her to rule over. Republicans will cease to be a party.”
And I think she’s perfectly fine with that.
Cheney has no chance in hell of leading the GOP.

There has been some back and forth here, about whether it is a good idea to try to start a new political party, or just try to work within the existing GOP structure, to push our issues.
History tells us that the Whig Party dissolved, and the dissolution of the Whigs led directly to the rise of the Republican Party.
Could history repeat itself, and see the existing Republican Party go under, and be replaced by a new party devoted to nationalism and conservative values? Is it practical to try to do so? Could a new party even be viable in the 2024 presidential election, or is building a new political party just not practical nowadays? In which case we are stuck with the Republicans, as the more conservative of the two major parties?
President Donald Trump supporters want Cheney to resign or be removed from her position as conference chair because she voted with Democrats and nine other Republicans to impeach Trump on Wednesday.
But McCarthy, a Trump ally, will not support that effort, a spokesman for the Californian told The Hill on Thursday.
McCarthy’s office hasn’t responded to requests for comment.
Cheney, the No. 3 Republican in the House, shocked many inside and outside the caucus when she announced Tuesday she’d vote to impeach Trump.

So-called rift isn’t that big.
Central Valley whore for Silicon Valley techno-totalitarian clatch McCarthy is all talk trying to look one way and be another.
‘
McCarthy said Cheney would be part of any configuration of GOP Leadership,
Article is BS.
The big problem for both of them is Trump isn’t leaving office.
It is absolutely disgraceful and unacceptable for a Republican in one of the "reddest" states in the U.S. to operate the way Lizard Cheney has. The GOP leadership needs to rid the party of these corporate/globalist frauds before these jackasses bring the whole party down with them. The 2016 election of Donald Trump was a thorough repudiation of this Wall Street globalism on a national scale.

Cheney's hoping to get allocated future portions of The Steal.
What a tool.
There both fools..
