Kudos the Andrew Torba, Gab CEO, for having a well laid out plan and foreseeing it, then executing it. Big tech is surely getting owned right now by Gab and “the people” as they are untouchable to the deplatform scheme.
This is how Populist Press was founded. We were never going to rely on social media for traffic which is a double edged sword to being controlled. We went old school, asked readers to visit us directly, and its paying dividends now as we have been able to get the news stories out that would usually be banned or suppressed by Big Tech. We are at #WAR, we all must begin cutting big tech out of our lives as much as possible.
The ADL has no other way to deplatform Gab so now they are lobbying the US government to do so.
We will never bend to their demands and we will never censor legal, 1A-protected speech that hurts the ADL’s feelings. Ever. Jesus is king.

I think it's much less about being able to share of technology platforms and much more about everyone in the relevant government being against him.
He could give the orders to declassify everything....who would obey those orders? Nobody.
He's gone from probably 75% in the fed bureaucracy hatting him and plotting against him for 4 years to now 99.9% against him.
Meanwhile, out here in the real world, his approval numbers are going up.

That's right. If Gab were to do that, the leftists billionaires would gobble them up in milliseconds, take control and proceed to destroy them.
However, I'll bet if they asked for donations, lots of people would respond.
They will. It takes time and money to ramp up infrastructure like that.
Under pre-planned, approved normal circumstances, it takes weeks-months to buy/receive/add/configure/test dozens-hundreds of new servers and the hardware needed to support that (i.e. racks, cabling, etc).
That's assuming their existing data center can handle that kind of physical hardware increase.
I belonged to a private forum in 2015-2016 with Andrew Torba. I can vouch for his integrity and skills. I saw them in action back then, joined Gab when he was beta-testing it, and have watched him navigate the perils of Democrat commies for years. If you join Gab, you won’t be compromised.
It reminds me of the leadership of Free Republic. Independent, smart, resilient, and won’t be bought or bullied.
In fact, I don’t know why FReepers aren’t encouraging more people to use FR or return to FR.
Yes Google is the worst of the worst. But Chrome is a way better browser than their competition.
I use DuckDuckGo when I need an honest search. I realize you can no longer trust Chrome/Google or the Google app. I don’t use Chrome if I’m looking for anything important.
When I find a better browser I will switch.
Point taken, but the one you didn’t ask which is most important is - who provides the bandwidth? And that may likely have to be some non-US entity. Which in turn means they US can block it
But note that I didn’t make any reference to the internet, you did that. The bandwidth precludes video and large graphics but digital HF radio is an option, but direct broadcast satellites (i.e. cubesats) have been built by high school classes and a number of non-US launch options exist.
And Starlink. It is not priced competitively now for a reason, but after Musk’s vision of 12,000 LEOs is a reality, that will change. It’s usability depends on how sane or crazy Elon Musk is.
