Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell has "better than a 50-50 chance" of voting to convict President Donald Trump and remove him from office, Axios reported on Tuesday night.
McConnell believes Trump has committed multiple impeachable offenses and is "pleased" at the idea of Trump being impeached and removed from office, The New York Times also reported on Tuesday.
The Democratic-controlled House is expected to vote on impeaching Trump on a charge of inciting an insurrection on the US Capitol on Wednesday. This would make Trump the first president in American history to be impeached twice.
McConnell thinks that Trump being impeached and then potentially convicted and ousted from office by the US Senate "will make it easier to purge him from the party," The Times said, citing people familiar with his thinking.

The House voted late Tuesday to approve a resolution begging Vice President Mike Pence to trigger the 25th Amendment and sideline President Trump, a largely symbolic spanking that was a prelude to a bigger fight over impeachment.
The 223-205 vote saw one Republican, Rep. Adam Kinzinger, join with Democrats.
Democrats said the urgency of removing Mr. Trump after last week’s attack on the Capitol demanded action by Mr. Pence.

Trump’s people will be extremely active in primary elections. Any Republican office holder that openly betrays Trump will be very actively opposed in a primary and will likely be deposed. Trump’s people will not seek to desert the Party but instead will want to take it over as their vehicle. It won’t be pretty but their will be an internal purge and fight.

Win the primary or lose the general. Given how completely the republicans capitulated in this election, I see no downside to staying home and letting useless cowards like Cornyn, McConnell, Graham (yeah, I know, 6 years) and idiots like Crenshaw lose the general election. They already gave away the senate and the presidency. Half the republican party needs to be voted out of office ASAP. They are no longer merely useless, they are openly as damaging to the nation as democrats.
With the margin in the house as thin as it is, pro-gun, pro-life people should be recruited to be DINOs to provide an extra layer of insurance and sabotage the democrats on key issues.
