On Sunday [November 22], Gov. Michelle Lujan Grisham’s office claimed that people being forced to stand in long lines outside of “essential businesses” such as Walmart, Albertsons, Costco, and other locations due to her public health orders restricting grocery stores were just “Republican talking points” that were “politically motivated.”
The Associated Press reported, “More than 20 essential businesses across the state were shut down as of Friday, of which nearly half were grocery stores or major retailers. The closures include two Walmarts in Albuquerque, a Walmart in Santa Fe, a Target in Santa Fe, and an Albertson’s in Roswell.” The shortage is causing a backlog at other grocery stores, which are limited by how many people can be inside at any current time. This is forcing New Mexicans to stand in lines outside for up to two hours.
The Governor’s office further claimed, “The state is not forcing anyone to stand in a crowded line, as you suggest.” These claims were untrue and easily disprovable
However, the Governor’s office is dead wrong. Below are countless examples of places across New Mexico where citizens were forced to stand in long lines. Upon the news that limits of 75 people inside each store, retailers pre-emptively began limiting capacities to begin compliance with the mandate. Below is photographic proof of the lines across the state:
November 22, 2020: 3:06 p.m. at Walmart in Clovis, New Mexico. The person who submitted these photographs writes, “It’s freezing down here and there are tons of senior citizens who have to stand in line to get their scripts filled. She’s killing us.”
November 22, 2020: Walmart on 2401 S Canal St, Carlsbad, New Mexico
November 22, 2020: Walmart at 1021 E Pine St, Deming, New Mexico
November 21, 2020: Walmart on Main Street, Farmington, New Mexico.
Who are you going to believe, Gov. Michelle Lujan Grisham’s office or your lying eyes. If they say there are no lines, there are no lines. Comrade, do not allow yourself to be misled by Republican talking points and highly edited “photos”.
We were all mostly compliant with the first shutdowns, not understanding much about the virus, but nowadays, why are all these businesses so willing to comply with your Ding Dong governor’s orders???
Blowing 30 knots, rain and 40 degrees f.
Line outside the local grocery store.
F Inslee !!!
Who in heck's gonna comply with that if they have a bad hip and can't stand in line in NM??? They can also just leave their cellphones at home so Michelle Karen Grisham's troops cannot determine that they went out of state.
How did you learn about my bad hip?
LOL!
Good one!! A great keeper. I sent it to the story originator.
Rumors from Santa Fe are indicating that MLG and all of her advisors and executive leadership are becoming super paranoid that a scandal will break concerning her while she is supposedly being vetted for a Biden administration. There are too many to count but they are being very tightly controlled. People who have worked in New Mexico state government, which is historically corrupt, are saying it is the absolute worst they have ever seen.
Some people are so self-righteous in their own eyes, that they have lost sight of what reality is and blame others for things they have no control over.
I’ve been seeing a lot of this lately on FR and honestly, it’s more worthy of DU than FR.
I just left Wal-Mart, crowded inside only. No lines waiting to get in.
I suppose that technically, that's right. Nobody is holding a gun to anyone's head and forcing them to stand there.
Heck they can just go hungry or without food instead. That's always an option.
Screw this, I live 45 minutes from a Colorado walmart and 20 minutes from a NM walmart. Guess which one i'm going to so to not stand in line? I quarantine about 15 minutes when I get home putting away the groceries. Colorado needs sales tax bucks too.
Are you in NM?
😉...Okay....I thought it was AL.
The pics/story, on this thread, are from NM.
Unreal that NM has closed down grocery stores. They're suddenly infection vectors, I guess.
“My family in New Mexico did not vote for this.”
Some parts of New Mexico are absolutely fantastic. Drove thru a part of western New Mexico a few weeks back. Just about every building - the few and far between that existed - were covered in Trump flags.
Used to live in Portales. Not a pretty area but a lot of wonderful conservative Christians. I would consider moving back except for the state-wide politics!
Too bad the folks in ABQ & Santa Fe can outvote them, and many folks there LOVE the SUCK!
Welcome to World Communism New Mexico.
I won’t say that you deserve it, because you don’t, but this is what you get for voting Democrat for decades. People need to start thinking for themselves, all people.
My home state needs to wake up, especially northern New Mexico.
If the first lockdown worked, why the second?
If the first lockdown DIDN’T work, why the second?
“Rumors from Santa Fe are indicating that MLG and all of her advisors and executive leadership are becoming super paranoid that a scandal will break concerning her...”
It is your duty to report those spreading rumors to the proper authorities. (You can use the same phone number to report those celebrating “Thanksgiving”.)
who says they voted blue?....apparently the rats get whatever they want....
