Here’s the latest.
Now they say they WILL be counted:
PHOENIX - Ballots marked with Sharpie will be counted in Arizona, despite claims on social media that they would be rejected, according to state officials.
The controversy arose when people claimed their ballots were not being counted after using Sharpies provided by voting locations in Maricopa County.

Hope we have poll watchers there challenging ANY vote they try to toss out.
The instructions say use black pen.
That how the mail-ins were done. Black pens are obviously legal, nobody can deny them. But most people at the booth use what they are given! You just assume that’s is the best to use!
We were given ordinary cheap black pens for the early vote. It had kind of sharp point so it was kind of slow to fill the oval.
But yesterday they replaced them with black sharpies, the kind which really soaks thru.
We had huge two sided ballot. There were like dozens of judges on the back side!
Almost every ballot from yesterday is messed up!
Right, if a challenge is brought any judge can order the ballots to be inspected and counted by hand instead of just blanket invalidated.
ALL the districts that allowed sharpies to be used and invalidated them were all in Republican districts(AKA Trump districts)
Trump campaign manager Bill Stepien said in a statement that Trump is well within the threshold to request a recount in Wisconsin, and that the campaign planned to immediately do so.
Question, were these mail in ballots that you filled out or you went on election day to vote and were given a ballot? Reason why Im asking is, how come people just didnt fill out ballots at home
We were given pens in MA. too.
They always supply us with sharpies here in rural MO. I do see a tiny bit of bleed through but if the layout is right so that circles on one side don’t line up with the other side and the machine knows where to look, it shouldn’t be a problem.
Yes.
Fortunately, some patriot did a video of them telling people to use Sharpies and they’d be counted.
Back to the SCOTUS case and ‘intent’ of the voter.
Maricopa county somehow elected Adrian Fontes as the county recorder (the guy which administers the election). Maricopa county had no free election since. He is very smart, and totally corrupt. Every election he comes with some dirty tricks. I would imagine that sharpie is Fontes newest trick.
In addition, there were suspicious number of “not registered Republicans” who sweared to be registered. Some even had the Voter ID showing they are registered. But the system kept rejecting them! Some took the provisional vote, some walked out. Even the higher ups agreed that there are bugs in the registration!
I saw something from that county that said they prefer sharpies over pens. Dries faster.
EXACTLY.
Were in for a long haul
These were in-person poling stations in Phoenix metro area.
Mail-ins voters use what they have at home, they do not send you pens with the ballot!
AZ has this “permanent mailing list”. Once you sign on, they will send you automatically ballot every time. You have to apply to be taken off this list.
So most people are on this list!
There is early voting which starts really early and encompasses lot of voters.
But there is still a substantial number of old timers who vote by person on election day. Those were screwed!
BTW. Fontes created a whole county voting system, you can vote at any station in county. He (we think intentionally) placed most of these in Democratic areas.
So there were long lines in Republican areas and no lines elsewhere. Voter suppression!
It’ll depend on how much bleed there is and can the machine figure something out. If it starts to think you voted too many times in multiple spots you might get the whole thing thrown out. Or at least pushed to the side for hand counting if the vote margins are small enough for those put aside to matter.
Good point (no pun intended). Means manual recounts in places where this has happened and confused counting machines. I used ordinary ball points and had no problems.
They gave us Sharpies here in SC PA. I noticed it bled thru the ballot and appeared on the back side. A ballpoint wouldn’t.
Where I live in TN we use electronic machines. They now print out our votes and we put the paper in a scanner to count.
