Prayers for your friends. One day in February with no warning I woke up with severe vertigo. I could not walk straight without assistance. I could barely manage getting out of bed. I was taken to the hospital and diagnosed with Afib. The Afib resolved itself before I was out of the emergency room but the dizziness remained. No one could tell me why. They ran a bunch of tests and everything was normal. I was sent home the next day. With medication I was able to get around but was still pretty dizzy. For weeks I was unable to do many of the things I enjoy and could not even go for a walk. I was checked out by an ophthalmologist who determined it was not an inner ear problem. He performed the Epley Maneuver which unexpectedly seemed to help a bit. I started worrying that I might never get back to normal. Fortunately over time I began to notice slow improvement and after about 3 months the dizziness was gone. Tell your friend to hang in there and not lose hope.

It worked very quickly for both my wife and myself.
No MD but have been diagnosed with BPV (Benign Positional Vertigo). Physical therapy cleared it up but it can return. Ear crystals, inner ear infection etc. can cause. I notice that “hearing and balance” franchises are starting to pop up to assist people having these issues.
