At the very least, it would seem that the Democratic presidential candidate is not as naive about Islam as many think—and not necessarily in a good way.

Trump has succeeded in the Middle East where the Obsma/Biden administration were dismal failures. It is possible that what you were seeing was Biden’s inner racist asserting itself. With the Trump approach the Middle East gets to move on, with the Biden approach they stay divided forever, captive to the capricious demands of all the squeaky wheels.

Valerie Jarrett was always around...he probably picked it up from her. Spanish speakers often use a version of this expression - “ojala” - that dates back to when the Moors controlled Spain. Having married into a Mexican family, I heard it many times and sometimes used it myself.
Islam is a system of government as much as it is a religion. Obama is a religious atheist and a political Muslim.
