In one of the DUMBEST ideas ever, Walmart has stopped accepting Samsung Pay. In other Walmart is now forcing us to use our physical credit cards rather than the much more secure method of Samsung Pay. Not only that we are now also forced to have another level of physical contact during the pandemic with Walmart via the process of physically inserting a credit card into their payment machines.
My strong suspicion is that Walmart has taken this DUMB move in order to hype their Walmart Card because every time I complain about Samsung Pay being blocked an employee uses that as an opportunity to mention that a Walmart Card is available and points to the promo on the payment screen.
Sorry, Walmart, but taking Samsung Pay hostage in order to promote your store card is one of the WORST corporate decisions ever. It just angers your loyal customers such as myself.
I am hoping that Walmart awakens from its utter stupidity on this and RESTORES Samsung Pay.
PING!
Who uses Samsung Pay anyway? Apple Pay and Alipay are the two largest, arent they, and Walmart doesnt take those either.
more secure method of Samsung Pay? Really?
Most CC companies are releasing cards with near field chips that do the same thing. You cant get mad at WalMart. Thats not their call; the POS vendor is the one dictating that.
Poor babies.
SMART people use Samsung Pay. Why? Because it can be used in all the many many places that does NOT accept Apple Pay. And that included Walmart until a couple of weeks ago.
So far, Walmart is the ONLY location that does NOT accept Samsung Pay. This started a couple of weeks ago.
I haven’t set foot in a walmart in 12 1/2 years. Try that, you’ll feel better.
Its just near field technology. This same technology is in Apple devices, modern CCs, and even your driver license if you have a newer version. There is nothing substantively different. The difference is the platform, and remember that those platforms can be compromised just as easy as any computer system.
I use the SAME credit card on my Samsung Pay for almost all my transactions and it has been working fine EVERYWHERE until Walmart alone started blocking it recently.
Remember these platforms (Samsung Pay, Apple Pay, etc) rely on integrity of their operations. Its possible that there are vulnerabilities they are trying to protect against for the same reason youre railing against WalMart; most of the public associates breaches with a vendor, not the actual card processor which is usually the point of compromise.
Sorry if I haven't reached your level of sophistication but I like to SAVE money which I do at Walmart. My only beef with them is their recent blockage of Samsung Pay.
“but I like to SAVE money”
Now theres a bad habit you need to get rid of. Go on! BUY that Lamborghini! You deserve it! ;-)
First of all Samsung Pay is touchless and works almost everywhere.
The reason I use it is it is secure. They do not expose my real card number. Since my wife and I switched to Samsung pay we no longer get a new card in the mail saying that the current card is compromised.
BTW, I used to shop at a Super Target right near me but their dopey bathroom policy scared away enough women that a couple of years later they closed it down. That was painful because due to coupons I used to get incredible food deals there.
I don't know anything about Samsung Pay, sounds like walmart hasn't reached a level of sophistication in that matter.
Anyway, the best way to SAVE money is not to SPEND money. Especially at walmart. 8~)
Its Walmart Pay they want you to use, instead, for wireless payment at the checkout.
We dont use it. We want them to use Apple Pay.
First world problems. Im pretty sure Walmart has their own contactless payment via their app.
I think Target takes other mobile pays as does Publix. Kroger is Samsung only which is annoying but Im not physical card phobic.
For me it has worked everywhere EXCEPT for Walmart as of a couple of weeks ago.
The reason I use it is it is secure. They do not expose my real card number. Since my wife and I switched to Samsung pay we no longer get a new card in the mail saying that the current card is compromised.
Exactly! After I got my Samsung phone I was concerned about the security of Samsung Pay so I did some research and found out it is much more SECURE than using a physical credit card.
