Of course, having already been a Senator for a decade, Biden voted for the 1850 Fugitive Slave Act too, imposing harsh penalties on northerners who harbored runaway slaves. You see, he’s PERSONALLY opposed to slavery on moral grounds, but that doesn’t change the fact he has no business telling OTHER people what they can do with THEIR slaves.
When asked about this apparent contradiction, he simply grinned and said “C’mon, people are ownin’ slaves, man! You and I may not like it, but it’s the in-thing to do now! Deal with it! Everyone I know in Delaware and his uncle has at least five of ‘em!”
