Disturbing e-mail rumor. I decided to check it out by looking at California's Secy of State webpage.

Here's what I found:

Voting at a Polling Place after Applying to Vote by Mail

Even if you receive your vote-by-mail ballot, you can change your mind and vote at a polling place on Election Day. To do so, you can:

OR

If you do not bring your vote-by-mail ballot with you, you will not lose your opportunity to vote at a polling place on Election Day. A poll worker will provide you with a provisional ballot, which will be counted after your county elections official has confirmed you are registered to vote in that county and did not vote more than once in that election.

/////////////////////////////////////

Hmmm, still disturbed.

Wow. So if a MIB was mailed to you even if you didn’t ask for it and you show up to vote in person.. you can’t. Electoral fraud like we have never seen before.

I thought that was standard practice. If you request a mail in ballot, you can’t vote at a polling place. You’ve made your choice.

But the key is that you request a mail in ballot. At that point you have made your choice.

I believe that is the practice in Nebraska. If you requested and were sent a mail-in ballot, that is how you must vote.

I knew it! I knew they would try this.

I was thinking about this yesterday.

Literally anything to make it more difficult to have a normal legitimate election.

“provide you with a provisional ballot”

If you get a provisional ballot you have to follow up with the county clerk to make your vote counts. The rats are counting on you not doing that.

That’s not a problem in Georgia. We have a better procedure to verify if you have voted.

Yup,it's easy to imagine Rat Party Headquarters trying to do exactly that...if they could.

The problem with this idea is knowing exactly who you voted for.If any such attempt was made with me...if I've received a mail in I would have tossed it...I'd say I voted a straight Rat ticket from Plugs all the way down to Town Dog Catcher.

They don't legally have that option.

They can only disallow in person vote if your ballot is already recorded.

“If you get a mail in ballot for the November election, do not destroy it or throw it away. If you do and you go to vote, they will assume you’ve already voted because they have a record that you got a mail-in ballot. Then you will not be allowed to vote on election day.

In the immortal words of Sherman T. Potter: HORSE HOCKEY!

You will be allowed to cast a provisional ballot in person on election day. Then if your mail-in ballot is not received by the cutoff date, then your provisional ballot will be counted. If your mail-in ballot is received, then your provisional ballot will be voided.

This is EXACTLY what President Trump was saying when he said to "mail in your vote, then go vote in person."

Please note that these procedures differ from one state to another. In some states, they might vary by county. Everyone should check how they will be allowed to vote.

E.g., in New Jersey, they are essentially eliminating polling places.

Sounds like a hoax, and not a very beleiveable one.

If people are really psyched about standing in a plague line to vote, have it.

I will be voting by mail, as usual, if that’s not good enough for any particular candidate no problem.

There are several to choose from, and it won’t be wasted on somebody who doesn’t want it.

At this point, NO STATES are mailing ballots to anybody who has not submitted a BALLOT REQUEST.

It is true that in many states, a request for an absentee ballot will remove you from the rolls.

But when states are mailing ballot requests to all voters, they cannot possibly remove those voters from the voting rolls, because they have no indication the voters are going to request actual ballots.

SO I think this story is largely false. But if you want to vote in person, DO NOT RETURN A BALLOT REQUEST.

And if you get an actual ballot, I recommend you fill it out, mail it back. Then show up on election day anyway. If you are on the rolls, it means they didn’t get your ballot, and you should vote. If you are NOT on the rolls, it means they think you got a ballot to mail in. You should then vote provisionally. In most states, you would record why you are voting provisionally, say that you do not think an absentee ballot was voted by you.

They will then check the absentee voter rolls. If they ahve your absentee ballot, they will discard your provisional. If they don’t have your absentee ballot, they will count the provisional. If there is a close election in your district or state, the republican party will sue to get republican provisionals counted, so you should not have to take any more action.

At a meeting at the Trump campaign office in Las Vegas we were told to take our ballot to the polling place and turn it in. Before giving them the ballot, write VOID or Voted in Person on the actual ballot. That is a valid ballot but only the envelope has your name on it so if it is blank, it can be filled out by someone else.

According to the campaign, 85% of Republicans plan to vote in person so many will be bringing in their mailed ballot. Make sure the Rats cannot use it by invalidating it.

At least in PA you have to request a mail in ballot.

Wonder which states mailed ballots to every "voter"?

I am in a state (NJ) that will send all registered voters a mail in ballot. During the primary my friend went in to vote in person and did not take the absentee ballot. They told her she could not vote. Another friend did the same thing but took her absentee ballot with her. They let her vote.

NJ is going to be a mess with MANY voters being denied the opportunity to vote.

If you vote by mail, pay the few bucks to send it via Registered and Certified mail, and get a signed receipt returned to you.
