40% of those infected with SARS-CoV-2 show no symptoms. another 40% show mild symptoms which could easily be mistaken for allergies. Of the rest, most will show no symptoms early on in the infection.
Not feeling sick is not the same as not being infected or infectious. You don’t know if you’re infected.
The droplets are half the size of the smallest smoke particle.
So, no. I’ve been trained in the use of these devices to enter hazardous and confined spaces. I’ve used them extensively inspecting cargo holds, cofferdams, voids, and other small spaces on ships.
The masks we used to use, with carbon filter inserts, are not certified against airborne pathogens. Period.
For that, you need very specialized gear. Like MOP gear.
So, the engineers among us are going to continue using math in all of this. Right up until the moment they round us up and take us off to die somewhere.
Masks just slow the spread of the virus..so in the end will there be less cases..
You’re not trying to filter out a virus. You’re reducing the volume and range of the respiratory droplets that spread the virus.
Without respiratory droplets, the viral proteins denature and the virus can’t infect. If SARS-CoV-2 could spread without droplets, its R0 (rate of spread) would be 15 or 20, like measles; not 2.5.
The studies you site are not peer reviewed or completed using any scientific method.
For as long as this virus has been around, there is very little real science to back up claims from any side of the argument.
“It is not a filter to protect the wearer. It is a filter to protect others.”
In a free country, it’s the responsibility of each person to take care of himself and his own safety — and that of his family. I am not my brother’s keeper.
I don’t expect the whole world to kowtow to ME. I take care of ME. You take care of YOU.
only when you cough or sneeze is adequate. there is no need to cover the rest of the time
Is that why my older sister wears a mask around her 1 year old grandson when they are alone indoors? Neither she nor the baby go anywhere. Im pretty sure someone has her convinced that she will get sick from the baby. Oh, and shes not immune suppressed or anything like that. She will take it off when shes across the room from him, so that he can see what she looks like.
Let wearing a mask is to keep you under CONTROL - and vaccines are bad-except the president is behind both - and he is good.
The cognitive dissonance displayed here is STAGGERING.
Don't believe the pretty graphics. Test it yourself. Notice in the video, the droplets are ejected past the eyes and continue and upward trajectory that is not displayed at all in the graphics you show. When the particles are ejected higher, they take longer to fall. Seriously, go into a vape shop and ask the people working there to try the experiment for you. Or someone you know who either vapes or smokes.
Masks are nearly useless against this.
Now let’s see that chart with a nose breather.
About half of mask wearers I see it seems have it pulled below their nostrils.
So if somebody is crossing the street in front of your car when your light turns green, you just run them over? After all, their safety is their responsibility.
Look, ultimately, everyone doing their own part to control the spread of a pathogen does protect you. If everyone wears a good mask when it’s appropriate to do so, spread slows drastically. Slower spread means it’s less likely to reach you or someone you love. I have close friends and family who are old enough or who live with longstanding medical conditions that would make them particularly vulnerable. Some of them still have to go to work to pay the bills. A shutdown doesn’t help them - it hurts them - but by me wearing a mask and everyone else wearing a mask, it’s less likely they’ll get infected and wind up in the hospital or dead.
The government shouldn’t be mandating this, but it also shouldn’t need to. We can be decent human beings that think of more than just ourselves. It’s not a huge deal to put on a mask while indoors in a public place for a short time like when one is in the grocery store. It’s not hurting anyone and it’s not costing anything to do so. But it absolutely will save lives to do so. That alone should make it worthwhile.
Ahhh, I guess youve solved all the worlds problems. I dont know how we ever got along without masks before.
This may be your new normal, and you are welcome to it.
That flies in the face of all evidence collected thus far. Talking (especially when speaking loudly) and singing are particularly effective in generating large amounts of respiratory droplets.

“So your mother said be sure to NOT cover your mouth when you cough or sneeze right?”
Mom told me to do those things — which I do. She also told me to wash my hands and stay home when I’m sick.
Coincidentally, those are precisely the instructions we were given by Fauci, Birx, et al., at the outset of hoax-demic. ONLY those three actions. Then, their cohorts in the RAT party recognized the major opportunity to screw with the election. (”Never let a good crisis go to waste” — remember?) Then the “experts” changed their tune with instructions to get the sheeple to toe the line so they could gain total control.
Social distancing, which came from the mind of a sixth grader (did you know that?). Masks to dehumanize Americans and be as drone-like as the commie Chinese people are. (It’s a bit weird that you have the word, “freedom”, in your FR handle.)
Sadly, ignorant people are easily manipulated.
Basically, Mom didn’t pull out her fishnet stockings and duct tape to create a hood for my face. Sheesh. And, BTW, good ol’ Mom is 96 and will NOT wear a mask.
The virus is carried in droplets that are not limited to the size of the virus.
“So if somebody is crossing the street in front of your car when your light turns green, you just run them over? After all, their safety is their responsibility.”
That’s an insane comparison. It’s very likely that being hit by a car will kill you. (Ditto for the old saw re seat belts that y’all spew.) There’s less than 1% chance of the virus killing you, and only 6% chance of it making you sick.
Seriously.
It’s the new normal until President Trump announces a safe and effective vaccine is available. Then it’s just a matter of getting doses into the hands of the public and this whole thing goes away.
That’s why slowing the spread matters: once enough people are vaccinated, the virus runs out of people it can spread to and it stops. That spares all the other vulnerable people in this country who would otherwise have to deal with this. About 9% of the US population has been infected by this point and we’ve seen a couple hundred thousand deaths as a result. We don’t want the rest getting it.
You can keep your new normal, and Ill keep my old one, thank you very much.
Thanks for stating reality! Droplets are huge when compared to the virus encased in it.
