There has also been discussion that the first guy shot in the head was accidentally shot by one of the rioters with a small caliber pistol. There was no exit wound.
The .223 would have done a lot more damage.
At close range, yeah. Big ol' chunk of head would be missing at the exit. Coroner/forensics will agree with you I'm betting.
Th kid can be heard on one video saying “I just killed someone” on his phone just before fleeing the mob. The guy with the headshot appears to be someone from an earlier video who is both verbally and physically antagonistic, literally challenging someone else to shoot him.
The Head shot bothered me. When they first got to the guy who was shot they were looking for the wound. A .223 to the head would take off a good chunk of skull and would be obvious.
Saw the video almost immediately after the event, Kyle was on hus cellphone reportedly saying, I didn’t shoot him!.
Guy on ground had a small wouldlooked like just above his right ear. Light pistol round I think. Was alive...at the moment but going fast.
You could hear a girl screaming to use a tourniquet on the guy...on a head wound....
This Kyle kud is going viral, lots of positive support for him.
How do you know there was no exit wound?
that’s why Kyle kept screaming to the thugs that he wasn’t the one that shot the guy. Hopefully they don’t delay ballistics results.
bullet entered the side of the head too but he was probably face to face with Kyle. One video says/shows a muzzle flash that would have come from the right direction for side of head entry. Seems like Kyle would have aimed for center body mass as he did with the skateboard guy. Not sure if he was aiming for the pistol holding arm of other guy or center mass and was just off to the left.
The .223 would have done a lot more damage.
First - let me start by saying, I don't know if Kyle's .223 was the bullet that struck the guy in the head. I'm just making this response as part of the discussion.
That said, I disagree that a .223/5.56 would have necessarily done more damage. It is possible that the bullet entered the skull and followed the curvature. The brain is surrounded by cerebral spinal fluid, which is mainly water. Water is one of the most effective retardants of bullets. Aside from the CSF, the round still has to go through the brain. It is possible the bullet entered the skull; passed through the CSF; entered the brain; - then ricocheted off, or followed the curvature of, the skull.
We also don't know the type of round that was fired. If it was a hollow point, it is entirely possible the bullet fragmented and didn't exit.
Under any of those circumstances, there would not be an exit wound.
I would wait for an autopsy to make those determinations, but again, I wouldn't discount .223 based on the photos/stills. The .223 is basically a souped up .22 round, and in many (most?) states not even legal for deer hunting because it is not lethal enough.
A .223 round would have an exit hole; AND, the guy would have died instantly.
