Horowitz: New study finds very weak asymptomatic coronavirus transmission
Conservative Review ^ | August 19, 2020 | Daniel Horowitz

For the first time in history, governments across the globe have quarantined the healthy with the sick for fear that asymptomatic carriers are spreading the virus and killing people in droves. But after months of crushed liberty and destroyed livelihoods, is there any proof that asymptomatic carriers are indeed super-spreaders? Shouldn’t we first investigate this theory before we force universal shutdowns and universal muzzle-wearing?

A recently published contact tracing study of 3,410 close contacts of 391 SARS-CoV-2 cases in a Chinese province near Wuhan during the peak months of the virus found that transmissibility seems to increase commensurately with the severity of symptoms presented by the infected individual. Of the 127 secondary infections that were traced to the original 3,410 cases, just eight were from individuals confirmed as asymptomatic.

All asymptomatic individuals were followed up with 14 days later by study administrators to confirm that they had not presented symptoms. The study was published on August 13 in the Annals of Internal Medicine journal.

The study’s authors conclude not only that asymptomatic transmitters compose only a tiny slice of the spread, but that the rate of transmission increases with the severity of the illness, further validating the strategy of focusing on the sick, not the healthy...

The very first sentence indicates a complete ignorance to the origination of, and the meaning of a quarantine.

At this stage, if someone is that stupid, everything else they write is suspect.

Have been saying that right along. You don't quarantine well people.

Even Fauci has changed his tune...get outside...breathe fresh air and get sunshine.

Nope. The whole idea was to ruin Trump's economy and blame him...

Thank you for referencing that article CheshireTheCat. Please note that the following critique is directed at the article and not at you.

”[…] governments across the globe have quarantined the healthy with the sick [??? emphasis added] […]"

FR: Never Accept the Premise of Your Opponent’s Argument

Quarantines have to be called early enough, like PDJT did, to be effective imo.

Otherwise, if you first tell people to go out and party after virus first starts spreading to try to make Trump look bad, and then call a quarantine too late like desperate Democrats did, Democrats telling everybody that “It’s Trump’s fault!," then of course people who get infected at the parties are going to quarantine with healthy people and get everybody sick.

Corrections, insights welcome.

Send "Orange Man Bad" federal and state government desperate Democrats home in November!

Supporting PDJT with a new patriot Congress and state government leaders that will promise to fully support his already excellent work for MAGA and stopping SARS-CoV-2 will effectively give fast-working Trump a "third term" in office imo.

“the rate of transmission increases with the severity of the illness”

That maps well with common sense.

So if you’re healthy and wear a mask you’re greatly increasing your risk while providing no meaningful protection for others. Just like the CDC originally said before this went political.

"Quarantine" is both a noun and a verb.

verb (used with object), quar·an·tined, quar·an·tin·ing.
- to put in or subject to quarantine.
- to exclude, detain, or isolate for political, social, or hygienic reasons.

Bingo! It was always more political than pathological.

Good for you.

A quarantine has always meant to keep people apart. It came from the practice of leaving ships in harbor for forty days before they could disembark.

You don’t just quarantine sick people. You quarantine populations, ships, villages.

Somewhere back in January, some moron started saying, “You only quarantine sick people.” If you could tell who wasn’t infected, a quarantine wouldn’t be necessary.

It is simply another example of ignorant people yelling the loudest, using “50 cent” words, and other silly people believing them because it’s too difficult to do research these days.
