We’re Going To Need Bigger Jails; And Smaller Cities

Chicago, like Seattle and Portland, is now under siege by the BLM Marxist-terrorists as the near North side (Miracle Mile) endured night two of rioting and looting.

“The mayor clearly has not learned anything since May, and she would be wise to understand that the people will keep rising up until the CPD is abolished and our Black communities are fully invested in.”

We’re going to need a much bigger jail

Trust me, this stuff is not difficult to grasp. Once people no longer feel safe they will leave.

The coordinated looting that overwhelmed police and left huge swaths of downtown and the Near North Side ransacked threatens to turn Chicago into pre-renaissance Detroit…

You don’t want to be pre-renaissance Detroit, a place where once there were buildings

Businesses that survived the stay-at-home shutdown and sustained heavy losses during the looting in late May triggered by the death of George Floyd may be reluctant to rebuild for fear they won’t be protected. Even if they do, customers may not feel safe shopping, dining or going to the theater downtown.

Empty-nesters and young people drawn to the city by the nightlife and cultural attractions that made Chicago a magnet for corporate headquarters may abandon the city as well because they, too, no longer feel safe.  – Chicago-Sun Times

And they won’t come back. Certainly not in your lifetime.

Trust me citizens of Chicago, Seattle, Portland, New York, Minneapolis, LA, you don’t want to watch this play out. It’s slow, ugly and painful and seems terminal.

What happens when you’re done redistributing all the wealth

It will be decades before there is even talk about rebirth and decades more before anything begins to take root, if ever. So instead of destroying more American cities what do you say we send the terrorists to jail and let the rest of America get back to work.

Globalism, “free” trade and offshoring of the auto industry killed Detroit.

Coming to the suburbs next. Just a few at a time to show there will be no real resistance, then a full-fledged attack.

It needed to be stopped in the urban areas, but most of the larger ones are DEM controlled. We're screwed.

Those were important factors, but the race riots in 1967 and 1943 played a big part by burning down big swaths of the city.

The most depressing aspect about all of this is seeing how poorly educated and crass those participating in the violence and looting are. Their vocabularies are poor and peppered with slang and profanity. They demonstrate no internal brake on their behavior, no empathy and compassion, and appear to be willing to do whatever they think they can get away with. The USA, without morality, compassion, respect, and spirituality is unsustainable.

The needless and myopic off shoring of the auto industry was the primary disease that infected Detroit. The Democrat city political take over was the secondary infection..

My great-uncle died childless. He was a (very) rich banker, but had a falling out with my grandfather and left it all to charities.

My mother had to dispose of the house we called “the mansion” in Central Brooklyn. She sold it in 1975 for $7500.

It sold two years ago for $2.5 million, in the great Brooklyn land rush.

It’s probably headed back to $7000.

What goes around, comes around.

Coming to small towns, too. My town is16K, with a contiguous town numbering 15K. BLM rally last Saturday, organized out of Portland. Calls for the Police Chief to be demoted, Mayor to resign, blah, blah, blah....

SOLUTION: 200 foot walls surrounding problematic cities... i.e. New York, Chicago, Portland, etc. Remove all law enforcement (de-fund the police) and place them on the wall. Send all rioters, looters, vandalizers, and other felony lawbreakers into the city, and close the gates.

The auto industry suffered from the terminal disease of complacent leaders in the industry, forced to grant ever more stifling work rules and benefits to corrupt unions who thought they had so much power, they could take anything.

Tremendous amounts of the auto industry left Detroit to go to Southern states, not overseas.

Yes, but there was no offshoring in 1967. Jobs were plentiful. The 1967 riots started when police raided an unlicensed bar. Even then, the yutes didn’t need much of an excuse to riot and burn down there nests.

The later offshoring exacerbated the problem.

As Raj writes, it is what is in store for Portland, Seattle, Chicago, et al if they don’t change their ways.

AND, Dem politicians and union payoffs.

All that Detroit proves once again that folks blessed with IQ’s less than 100 can build good cars and trucks but they can’t do much of anything else. Factories can’t be replaced with welfare, drugs, nail salons and check cashing joints and call it an “economy”.

Socialist collectivist work camps in rural areas wearing communist clothing in case you decide you want to “escape” and “blend in” to the local Marxist hating population.

(“Coming to the suburbs next.”)

We’ve been prepping for Zombies for some time.

Organizing the neighborhood for any loss of civility. I’ve got three neighbors with varying skill levels.

Which is fine, we need jobs for all people. We just can't pay them $60,000-$80,000 a year.

Greedy unions, efficiency experts, radical environmentalists, boards of directors, politicians, social engineers, Wall Street, etc., as well.

Oh, and changing consumer tastes. You’d think that “Any color they want as long as it is black” would have been brought up to date and fine tuned.

In the 1980s, Buick had a model that was available in 32,768 variations when all was said and done. Just think of all the inventory and repair parts that had to be maintained.

Honda’s popular Accord was available in exactly 6 variations - basic or deluxe, and a total of 3 colors. A lot more $$$ efficient for sales and support.

The rioters feel they’ve got nothing to lose so they don’t fear the repercussions of their actions. What the leftists don’t understand is after two years of a Biden presidency the entire middle class will be in the same situation, nothing left to lose. When that comes to pass we won’t be violently rioting to only steal designer gym shoes.

In Chicago as long as the crime was sequestered on the south and west sides the Gold Coast liberals and patrons of the pervayors of high end leather and crystal on the Magnificent Mile we’re willing participants in supporting the Machine politicians. It made them feel good ya know.

I lived in Chicago as a kid and have gone back many times, usually for a day trip to downtown around Christmas. I told my friends for years that some day a situation will occur and the whole of downtown will be easy pickings. Well here it is happening right before my eyes. It cannot he stopped, certainly not with the current administration and the demographics of the city almost guarantees future administrations will be worse than the current one. It will take a bit but most of the folks that can will leave and the businesses that cater to them will disappear. I give it 5 years. 10 at most. Sad.
