Perhaps the mayor of Chicago thought it would be a good idea to remove the statue of Christopher Columbus in the week hours of the morning and that the controversy would quietly go away. Well, she obviously thought wrong as you can see in this video. Italian Americans of the city have declared political war on the local liberals who sanctioned this statue removal. Even greater than the threat at the ballot box was the promise to dig very deeply into the financial activities of those targeted. And in Chicago, how hard can it be to find evidence of corruption?
I think some of them try to dismiss the reports of cannibalism as lies made up by the Europeans. But a few years ago there was scientific confirmation of cannibalism on the part of some Indians in what is now Arizona or New Mexico (600 or 700 years ago).
True - the story is that Columbus lied, saying those people were cannibals in order to justify enslaving them. But, then why didn’t he claim the other indigenous people were cannibals? It sounds as if he sailed right into a mess of trouble between tribes, and he ended up involved, at the same time struggling to keep his own crew under control.
