Well, the key would be to pull some sort of “Trump supporting nutcase” out of the woodwork to do it. If done right it could really create sympathy for the Democrat side (and hatred for the Republican side), while giving them the ability to effectively replace him, effectively killing two birds with one stone.

As you can see, many of the states allow early voting _weeks_ before the election, and many Biden supporters will choose to use early voting.
So—if they cast a vote for Biden for President and he is no longer on the ballot, they have still cast a vote for Biden for President—and all the lawyers in the world can’t clean up that mess on aisle three.
A late replacement will mean a guaranteed Trump re-election, since he will be on all ballots and the new Democratic candidate will only be on some of them.
The “October surprise” would be that the Democrats are burnt toast.
We lost my wife’s sister on Monday. She started sliding into the disease 3 or 4 years ago. At our Christmas dinner we noticed a major decline. Sort of like poor Joe is right now. And then she crashed in the last six months. It’s a wicked disease. Joe’s family is doing him no favor in allowing this to continue.

“What are the Rules”? The rules are whatever the Democrat Party decides they are. They can do whatever they want prior to the election.

I think that Biden will be replaced because of his mental decline. The party will pick Cuomo because the media likes him. Think of this, all the dimrat primary voters will have been robbed/ignored in all this process. Cuomo was never on any ballot until he gets picked to be the dimrat candidate.
Trump would have a field day with Cuomo.
Popular votes don’t matter. As long as you vote for the underlying electors, who have already been selected by the candidates in each state. Any vote for the candidate is a vote for that party no mater who is on the ballot or even alive. The small print on the ballot reads “for electors pledged to _____.

But Cuomo won’t bring any electorate votes with him. His state is pretty much lost to the democrats. Same problem with Harris. I would think they would pick someone from a battleground state.
