Leftist Andrew Sullivan is now a “Conservative” to the Woke Media Mob

Andrew Sullivan is now too “conservative” to work with the woke children who infest the staff at New York Magazine. – Leftwing writer Andrew Sullivan supported and voted for Al Gore in 2000. He did the same for John Kerry in 2004. Ditto Barack Hussein Obama His Own Self in 2008 and 2012, and the Pantsuit Princess in 2016. He was among the first gay writers to come out publicly and has been a liberal thought leader for the last 20 years.

But hey, in the woke world of critical theory that the last two generations of college graduates have been brainwashed by their professors to believe, the very, very, very leftist Andrew Sullivan is now a “conservative” voice within New York Mag’s organization, and the columns he writes are doing “physical harm” to all his snowflake office-mates. Thus, on Friday, Sullivan penned his final piece for the dying publication, just a few days after Bari Weiss made her famous exit from the dying New York Times.

The content of Sullivan’s piece relays a story that is strikingly similar to the one told in Weiss’s epic letter of resignation to New York Times publisher A.G. Sulzburger. It’s a story of bullying, of a hostile work environment, of a pathetic breed of corrupt young journalists who have fully invested their lives in the killing of freedom of speech and the criminalizing of alternative points of view. Those things form the very basis of critical theory, a world in which white people are evil for the simple fact of their birth and anyone who doesn’t believe that gender is a “spectrum” that consists of something over 300 distinct human classifications is a bigot whose livelihood must be ended and life must be destroyed.

That denial of the gender spectrum specifically and mocking of critical theory in general is apparently what formed the basis for New York Mag’s terminating its relationship with him, at least if Sullivan is to be believed. From a piece at Fox News:

“What has happened, I think, is relatively simple: A critical mass of the staff and management at New York Magazine and Vox Media no longer want to associate with me, and in a time of ever tightening budgets, I’m a luxury item they don’t want to afford. And that’s entirely their prerogative,” Sullivan explained. “They seem to believe, and this is increasingly the orthodoxy in mainstream media, that any writer not actively committed to critical theory in questions of race, gender, sexual orientation, and gender identity is actively, physically harming co-workers merely by existing in the same virtual space. Actually attacking, and even mocking, critical theory’s ideas and methods, as I have done continually in this space, is therefore out of sync with the values of Vox Media. That, to the best of my understanding, is why I’m out of here.”

The columnist reiterated thoughts he made years ago about how “we all live on campus now,” noting the increasingly limited exchange of ideas on college campuses has spilled into everyday life and pointed to a survey that showed only 1.46 percent of the faculty at Harvard University identify as “conservative.”

“But that’s probably higher than the proportion of journalists who call themselves conservative at the New York Times or CNN or New York Magazine,” Sullivan wrote. “And maybe it’s worth pointing out that ‘conservative” in my case means that I have passionately opposed Donald J. Trump and pioneered marriage equality, that I support legalized drugs, criminal-justice reform, more redistribution of wealth, aggressive action against climate change, police reform, a realist foreign policy, and laws to protect transgender people from discrimination. I was one of the first journalists in established media to come out. I was a major and early supporter of Barack Obama. I intend to vote for Biden in November.”

“It seems to me that if this conservatism is so foul that many of my peers are embarrassed to be working at the same magazine, then I have no idea what version of conservatism could ever be tolerated. And that’s fine. We have freedom of association in this country, and if the mainstream media want to cut ties with even moderate anti-Trump conservatives, because they won’t bend the knee to critical theory’s version of reality, that’s their prerogative. It may even win them more readers, at least temporarily,” he continued.

[End]

I have no use for either Sullivan or Weiss, but this is an intolerable situation in a free country. The situations described by both Sullivan and Weiss are clearly illegal hostile work environments under longstanding U.S. law. Yet, any left-wing media outlet located in New York City is perfectly safe from being held accountable given that the mayor is a rank Marxist and the District Attorney is funded by George Soros front groups.

The situation is similar in Washington, DC, where all of the networks have major operations and in Atlanta, where CNN headquarters is located. The woke automatons who are brainwashed with critical theory can simply band together to bully anyone they do not like out of any media operation, or any other business that has the protection of the local Democrat Party political leadership.

Sullivan says he will now go on and re-start his former blog “The Dish,” and also said he hopes to start a podcast. Either or both will keep him safely isolated from any mob of aggressive critical theory snowflakes. Weiss will likely land an editor’s position at some other media operation and try to keep her head to down so as to avoid offending the pack of woke dogs that will no doubt roam its halls looking for opportunities to be offended.

And no one in a position of leadership and moral authority within the corrupt news media world will give a moment’s thought to maybe speaking up and questioning where this industry-wide kneeling to the whims of the mob is leading them. Because they know that giving it a little thought will lead to the quick realization that the only possible logical conclusion of continuing down this path is a brutish tyranny.

That is all.
