What caused the company to change its mind?
Colt Manufacturing Company has begun to sell its popular AR-15 modern sporting rifle to civilians again. In June, the company did a complete 180-degree turn after it had exited the civilian market for modern sporting rifles last September.
At that time, the company announced via a statement from its president and CEO Dennis Veilleux, the market for modern sporting rifles has experienced significant excess manufacturing capacity. Given this level of manufacturing capacity, we believe there is adequate supply for modern sporting rifles for the foreseeable future.
However, Colt Manufacturing, which was founded by Samuel Colt in 1855 and remains the consumer-facing brand, also reaffirmed at the time that Colt Defense would be committed to the production for the military and law enforcement market.
Our warfighters and law enforcement personnel continue to demand Colt rifles and we are fortunate enough to have been awarded significant military and law enforcement contracts, Veilleux added. Currently, these high-volume contracts are absorbing all of Colts manufacturing capacity for rifles. Colts commitment to the consumer markets, however, is unwavering.
Colts sudden exit from the market last year came as firearms sales had slumped, while the AR-15which Colt didnt actually design but bought the rights to produce from Armalite in the 1960shad been in the spotlight after several high profile mass shootings. Even as Colt had set the standard for excellence, it had also become a highly competitive market with plenty of options for consumers.

To my knowledge the AR in the article is in 9mm the magazine is the giveaway.
A .22lr AR platform will have a magazine that looks like a standard AR 15 mag but modified to accept .22LR ammo
Correct me if I am wrong. The picture is of an AR in the 9mm platform. The magazine in the giveaway. An AR in the .22 lr platform will have a magazine that looks very similar to a standard AR mag but modified for .22 LR.
Thats not exactly what happened.
Like the way you think. Plenty of ammo in our small KS town gun shop. Bought a box of .40 S&W this morning to replace rounds expended at the range. Getting used to my Glock 22, which is a bit heavier than my Ruger SR22. Minimum stock on hand is 120, but I may increase that depending upon circumstances. Take very good care.
...lucky you...! I am a gun-show junkie and the guns shows down here it Texas are non-existant....cannot have too many people breathing on each other, ya know... I wish they would come back....a great way to spend a Saturday....
BTW, when President Biden’s foaming-at-the-mouth anti-gun czar, Irishman Bob O’Rourke gets up to speed, he’ll try to take all of our AR-15s.... I said “try”.......
Colt didnt have the ability to fight anything.
Will these be the ones with a 100 clip magazine, an underbarrel chupacabra launcher and a shoulder thing that goes up?
“Colt didnt have the ability to fight anything.”
I still will Boycott the purchase of anything made by Colt.
OK, then enlighten me.
Youre correct. I realized right after I posted it was 9mm not 22. But neither of those make an AR-15
Hi.
Top told us Grunts that you would never have enough ammo, liquor or pu$$y. God bless him.

Isn’t that the AR-MA-Deuce? The one right-wing militias all use?
Obviously NOT for deer hunting.
“The media thinks they come in 50 caliber and can fire a thousand round a minute.”
The technical term for that is “spraying”.
