Interesting article—I have been looking closely at the Florida numbers (with no axe to grind either way) and I believe the article is basically correct about Florida.

Attached is the data of ICU uses by county in Florida.

Despite the large number of reported cases, there are still plenty of available ICU beds in most of the state.

https://bi.ahca.myflorida.com/t/ABICC/views/Public/ICUBedsHospital?%3Aembed=y

This is _very_ good news that is not being accurately reported by the MSM.

While I have been known in these parts as a Fearper, I am actually someone who follows verifiable data, and adjust my views accordingly.

Based on this data I am convinced the lockdowns are _not_ justifiable except in _very_ local and unusual situations.

It would end if we’d all take off our masks and act normal...and not new normal...and politicians would stop using this as a tool against PDJT. Prove me wrong...like with clean CDC data abmnd Florida data and Texas data...oh, such clean data doesn’t exist...

With "woke" doctors saying people who were never tested died of the China Virus.
With hospitals and clinics saying people who were never tested are positive.
With no clear definition of what being "positive" actually means, false positives included in the positive count.
With multiple tests being added to the total count as "new".

The numbers of positive and dead are being inflated, especially in states run by Repub Governors. The push is on to keep the lockdown and the China Virus going to destroy the economy and hurt Trump.

Nope. It will never end, plus if you don’t wear a mask you will be counted as worse than a drunk driver.

Why are people so convinced hospitals are not full? It is simply not true.

Funny, I read an article just yesterday that democrats are getting worried that their voters simply will not go out and vote for fear of COVID-19 and Republicans will because they by and large think the risks are overblown. Plus their attempt at nationwide mail in voting hasn't gone anywhere in congress or in most states.

I think the word has been sent down to the media, "Ok, time to start wrapping up the pandemic scare-a-thon."

They are full of sick people not with virus. There are still other diseases and for months people did not see their doctor for regular check ups. The virus is not the only illness. People still have cancer, heart disease, diabetes ect ect.

The recent MSM reporting on hospitals has been very misleading.

I believe the early reporting (March) was reasonably accurate, but the most recent reporting has become true scaremongering.

The data is easy to verify—and instead of giving verifiable hospitalization and ICU numbers, the mass media has decided to go with vague and unsubstantiated claims.

I know that is not a surprise to folks around here.

Best article on Covid I have ever read, hands down.

You get 10 points for finding it. But as they say in the food service industry; Presentation is critical.

Free Republic is based on short excerpts of highlights to lure the audience into reading the whe article on its site. If you do not take the time to present your findings it will fall flat.

Minus 15 points for presentation!

You know first hand that every hospital in this country is loaded with virus patiences and not other illness? I find that hard to believe. What happened to all the other sick people? I know the hospitals in my county are not full of virus patiences as a matter of fact we have no deaths and a hadull of positive for weeks.

Zeke Emanuel, on Biden’s coronavirus task force, is one of the authors (the authors are not listed at the link to the 55-page report, but you can download the full report from the right-hand column at the link and check the full list of authors).

16 Jul: StatNews: U.S. must spend $75 billion to fix flawed Covid-19 testing, report says
By Matthew Herper
The U.S. should invest $75 billion in order to fix its badly flawed system of diagnostic testing for Covid-19, according to a bipartisan committee of industry experts, investors, scientists, and former federal health officials assembled by the Rockefeller Foundation.
“America faces an impending disaster,” the foundation’s panel warns in a 55-page report (LINK) released Thursday. “The extraordinary scale of the Covid-19 crisis is evident in the growing deaths and economic losses the pandemic has wrought in every state.” The report adds: “This terrifying tragedy was not and is not inevitable.”

The report, which includes among its authors several former commissioners of the Food and Drug Administration and a who’s who of researchers in pandemic preparedness and diagnostic testing, suggests several steps for improving the U.S. response, including a dramatic ramp-up in different types of tests. The Rockefeller Foundation is also committing $100 million to the global coronavirus response.

Rajiv Shah, the foundation’s president, said he could point to “half a dozen, maybe three dozen” other countries, including South Korea, New Zealand, Australia, Iceland, and Germany, that have done better than the U.S. by using widespread diagnostic testing to identify people who are sick early and better control the spread of the virus...
...Paul Romer, a report co-author and the co-recipient of the 2018 Nobel Prize in economics, estimates shutdowns cost the U.S. economy $300 billion to $400 billion a month...

The same committee previously suggested that the U.S. develop the capacity to conduct 3 million diagnostic tests a week this summer and then reach 30 million tests a week by October, when flu season will begin. But the experts said it is now clear that the rate of testing must be ramped up even faster, employing multiple strategies.
One major problem is that even though U.S. laboratories are now conducting 4.5 million Covid-19 tests a week, many patients are waiting seven days or longer to get test results. This makes the tests almost useless...
The U.S. will need at least 5 million PCR tests a week, with results returned much faster than they are currently, said Michael Pellini, a venture capitalist at Section 32 and a report co-author...
“There has been no plan and there is no plan, and that is the danger,” said Pellini...
