Tony Stewart and Ray Evernham form competitor to NASCAR

NASCAR was already on life support, at one time I loved NASCAR, but my interest had fallen to near zero...after their recent embrace of BLM and Political Correctness I had totally given up on the sport....

Tony Stewart and Ray Evernham are two heavyweights who could pull this off.

They already have a TV contract, plan on running short tracks, probably some on dirt, will make the races shorter to around 2 hours in length.....

It will be very interesting to see if it works...

They probably won’t have a BLM car and garage nooses.

Only race vehicles that are based on currently available models, using the manufacturer’s bodies.

You know, kinda like that good-ole-boys/former moonshine runners’ racing league used to do.

Oswego Speedway would be a great track for this series.

They have to put in their rules and their contracts that any involvement of politics results in permanent expulsion from the sport.

The injection of politics into sport is (by intention) working to destroy it.

++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++

NASCAR has gone far afield from its roots .... fast cars, manly men, danger, excitement. I’ll give “Smoke” & Evernham a chance .... NASCAR tweaked my last nerve where they’re concerned with the Bubba Smollett episode & after being a fan for decades, I’m “done” with them.

Here’s a really good article on NASCAR’s woes & frankly, I agree, including the part about the drivers becoming “ pansy-assed quislings more focused on their social media following than keeping connected to the smell of oil and dirty fingernails”. BTW, this article was written before the “hoax” was exposed & predicts the noose is a hoax.

NASCAR lost me in the 1990s when they started dicking around with competition by forcing teams to run restrictor plates on intakes. Teams didn’t like that much either but the money was getting bigger and hard to argue with.

Recently, NASCAR got its claws into IMSA, the leading sports car series in the US and are already messing with “Balance of Power” and other big changes to the series to help “commercialize” the brand and destroy it like they did with themselves.

it’s a damn shame.

Their corporate sponsors and broadcasters will demand as much wokeness as NASCAR.

NASCAR is finished. I have been watching F1 for the last couple of seasons and am enjoying it much more. I will certainly give this a shot. I have been to Eldora several times and love the Saturday night short track vibe.

I hope they go public on the stock market. I’d throw some dollars at the idea.

Two things killed NASCAR. Common templates and Dale Earnhardt. Not necessarily in that order.
