Google has a "Juneteenth" inspired page today. This being Google there is no historical context, and no reference to the Civil War. It looks like some scene from Africa than the US.

It is interesting that nobody on a site titled Free Republic would be interested in an event that started the process of securing the blessings of liberty for Black Americans.
In both of the picnic scenes, there is fried chicken and watermelon on the blankets.

This is so stupid. Besides the idiotic moniker (hick sounding and doesn’t manage to SPECIFY the date), it’s a local thing, far removed from any actual emancipation date. Just like the stupid Cinco de Mayo garbage...local and insignificant to the whole country.
The doodle doesn’t even make any sense of what it is. Not even any sense that these are past slaves.
We are tired of the whining and carping and rioting over something from 150 years ago.
Eliminating statues and references will and has eliminated memory.
So, very soon, we’ll be able to say, “Slavery? There was nor is no slavery here.” The mob will have to counter or shut up.

It’s very sad, actually. I’d hate to think those here who are disinterested or critical are aware of the date’s history, symbolism, and importance to the nation and still dismiss it. Surely it’s out of ignorance and not something nefarious. Because why would anyone disparage the act of acknowledging a day in American history that, as you said, started the process of securing the blessings of liberty of Black Americans? Why?
Google has no historical context it’s why they are a branch of the DNC.
