Seattle Mayor Durkan Downplays Autonomous Zone: ‘We Could Have the Summer of Love’
Legal Insurrection ^ | June 12, 2020 | Mary Chastain

Seattle Mayor Jenny Durkan downplayed the six-block autonomous zone in the city on CNN last night after President Donald Trump demanded she restore order to the city. Durkan claimed the zone is “not an armed takeover” and “more like a block party.” Yet, the police chief said their “calls for service have more than tripled.” Videos show tension within this zone.

Doesn’t Durkan realize that no matter what she does these people still want her to resign? The best part came when Cuomo asked Durkan how long she thinks this will last in Seattle. Her answer: “I don’t know. We could have the summer of love.”

My God, if the RNC can’t put out the most devastating political ads since the “Daisy” ad this campaign season, they deserve to lose.

The non-communist parts of Washington state need to secede and set up a 2nd Amendment Sanctuary state.

Call it the state of Mason.

In 1787, Mason was named one of his state’s delegates to the Constitutional Convention and traveled to Philadelphia, his only lengthy trip outside Virginia. Many clauses in the Constitution bear his stamp, as he was active in the convention for months before deciding that he could not sign it. He cited the lack of a bill of rights most prominently in his Objections, but also wanted an immediate end to the slave trade and a supermajority for navigation acts, which might force exporters of tobacco to use more expensive American ships. He failed to attain these objectives, and again at the Virginia Ratifying Convention of 1788, but his prominent fight for a bill of rights led fellow Virginian James Madison to introduce the same during the First Congress in 1789; these amendments were ratified in 1791, a year before Mason died. Obscure after his death, Mason has come to be recognized, in the 20th and 21st centuries, for his contributions to the early United States and to Virginia.

Does this mean that if Second Amendment supporters wanted to block off part of Seattle and hold an armed rally without a permit and excluded law enforcement from the area that all would be well?

Some how I doubt it. I think we have an equal treatment under the law problem here. Perhaps the mayor has made some new laws and should publish them.

I actually thought it was a sarcastic quip that was amusing. I have to give her credit and if you watch her posture and listen to the way she said it, I am pretty sure I am right.

She has boxed herself in badly with her handling of the situation and her stand-down orders. As far left as she is, she is nothing compared to her own city council - they are rabid. She and her police chief are now pointing fingers at one another, a bunch of children have taken over one of her police precincts and a portion of the city, and there is no way to put any shine on the turd. It has become a really bad reality television show.

What can she do? If she acts to remove them (her constitutional duty) she disproves her prior statements about the movement and angers the city council. If she leaves them alone she looks feckless and impotent and is a laughing-stock. She is another with national aspirations and she cannot like her national image at the moment.

Her own police chief is out there saying there are all kinds of crimes occurring inside the “free zone.”

Trump sits in the White House and zips a few tweets and all of these feckless mayors and governors run to the camera’s to unintentionally make him the law and order candidate. Thanks to the Vegan Soy Anarchist Mafia in Seattle she is now getting her first national exposure and it ain’t looking good.

Durkan is now living the life of a street cop. Damned if she does and damned if she doesn’t.

Multiple photos of the illegally armed “guards” with stolen weapons... patrolling. The woman is an idiot— living in fantasy just like her gobernador moron... they are PART of this. They need to be removed. Pray for the great State of Washington.

Portland starting the same shite. Let them fence in— then surround them and NOT LET THEM OUT.

Well if more blacks looked at the images they would see it’s not at all about them because there are so few of them as a proportion of the group in the “assanomous” zone :)

It’s white trash college kids or grads in their 20s and some even in their 30s.

Mom and dad must be proud. :)

Unfortunately, some probably are.

The summer of love was in 1967. Can’t this dyke come up with any new ideas?

.

Nope. The entire left establishment is from that era. They are gross.

She knows full well what is going on in her city.
She just chooses to ignore it vs stoping it.
She is delusional.

“Does anyone else find it ironic the voice of reason in Seattle is the African-American police chief.”

not really ... there’s plenty of great, tough black police chiefs, one of the very best is in Detroit, and don’t forget former Sheriff David Clarke ...

i would say perhaps that it’s ironic that the voice of reason in Seattle is the police chief ...

True..or it could be The Long Hot Summer of no showers, no clean clothes and lots of fires accidently started by stoned Antifaville residents brazenly flicking their cigarettes and joints all over the place.

I’m betting on the second scenario

“Some Boomers think it is always 1968.”

yep. they never grew up and are still trying to re-live the greatest moment in their pathetic lives, namely when they “protested” the vietnam war ... when bush II went to war in the mideast, i saw these fools marching and beating drums on the Boulder Mall ... (no marching for any of obama’s wars, though)
