‘The Mayor Says You Jews Are Getting Us All Sick’: NYC Couple Cite de Blasio During Violent Assault on Brooklyn Hasidim

A married couple who were arrested in Brooklyn after they attacked a group of Hasidic Jews in a bid to rip off their coronavirus protection masks reportedly cited New York City Mayor Bill de Blasio as justification during the assault.

The attack occurred on Sunday night in the Williamsburg section of the borough. Paulo Pinho, 35, and wife, Clelia Pinho, 46, jumped out of their vehicle at Bedford Ave. and Ross St. where they confronted the three male victims, police said.

You Jews are getting us all sick,” the couple yelled at a trio of men, according to police sources quoted by the New York Daily News on Monday, before adding: “The mayor says you Jews are the reason we’re getting sick.”

New York Mayor de Blasio sparked anger among Jewish leaders at the end of April for singling out“the Jewish community” in a tweet condemning the alleged violation of coronavirus distancing restrictions at the public funeral of the late Rabbi Chaim Mertz.

Jonathan Greenblatt — head of the Anti-Defamation League (ADL) — responded to the mayor by telling him that “generalizing against the whole population is outrageous especially when so many are scapegoating Jews.”

The Pinho couple combined their verbal abuse with a physical assault against the three men, with Clelia Pinho falling down and breaking her arm as she attempted to rip off their masks. The couple were held at the scene by members of the Shomrim communal security agency until police arrived to take them into custody.

While Clelia Pinho has no prior record, her husband Paulo has been arrested four times in the past. Most recently, he was detained in May 2019 after he brandished a screwdriver at a 61-year-old man before punching him in the face in a dispute over a parking spot.

Mayor de Blasio meanwhile strongly denounced Sunday’s attack, saying that the Pinhos would likely face hate crimes charges.

“Whether it is this horrible antisemitic act that we saw or the horrible anti-Asian acts we saw in previous weeks, none of these acts of bias or discrimination are acceptable in New York City,” de Blasio declared on Monday.

It can be used to show how the media distort news to fit their agenda.

Notably, in all but this article, NONE of the articles include the “The mayor says you Jews are the reason we’re getting sick.” quote.

MOST don’t mention the names of the accused and leave the impression that they are right-wing nutjobs by mentioning criticism of Trump or other Republicans in the next paragraph.

The MSM’s behavior is, in some ways, more harmful than the behavior of the two attackers.

I worked as a contractor once with a lot of people from New York City and the area.

I have NEVER in my life cared about who belonged to what religion, and never had discussed it at work- but with these people it was a daily topic of conversation, especially about who was Jewish.

Shomrim went easy on them. Often, when anyone assaults a Hasid in Williamsburg, he yells out “Chapsim!” and a few dozen of the faithful come streaming out of nearby houses and stomp the perp into unconsciousness, if not worse. Try identifying 20 identical assailants in a lineup, and good luck.

I think NBC's treatment of Mike Pence and the boxes is the perfect example of how the MSM operates. They reported three facts:

1. Mike Pence was filmed helping to offload boxes of hospital supplies.
2. Some of the boxes were empty.
3. Pence was caught on tape asking if he could carry the empty boxes for the camera.

Technically, all three facts are true. But as we know now, there are other facts that reveal that the empty boxes were left in the van, and that he was joking, shutting the van door himself immediately after making the remark.

Then of course, there's the method of delivery: The MSM releases the misleading story loudly, and a couple days later, if they are caught, they release the retraction quietly.

If we name it and categorize it in a scholarly fashion, be real handy at calling there bs.

Well, what it's always been called before is "taking things out of context." But perhaps that's not specific enough. To me, it's a little like Sampling. You know, how singers today take bits and pieces from an older song and use it to enhance their own?

What these "Journalists" do is create their own song, their own narrative, and then borrow just enough of their target's material to weave it into their narrative to give it the appearance of validity. Then they put a Guiding Headline on there to set the reader's expectation and steer his perceptions.
